Lenovo Yoga C740 vs Microsoft Surface Go 3

Other: The device itself runs pretty well! The only issue would be that it's dropped my wifi randomly here and there which would only be a minor inconvenience but my only fear is having it drop when I'm submitting an assignment so I've made the habit of checking beforehand! But it is the main issue I have with the device. The speakers are also pretty decent but I typically use headphones. I've seen that past models have little raisers on the inside so the keyboard isn't smashed when you have the laptop in tablet mode but this doesn't have it which is kind of a bummer but it's workable to use it semi-folded like a tent to draw on and stays in place pretty well! I've planned to sew a thin cushion to use it in desktop mode without hitting the keys but that's just me. Overall, I think if you're curious about the microsoft surface products but fear that big price point, this is a good option! College wise, it's nice to type on and a good size to keep in a backpack

When I purchased this device in August of 2019 it performed very well as a laptop/tablet. Very portable with good capacity for my needs including length of each charge. I use it daily for streaming music and news, on line browsing and shopping and WORD, EXCEL and PDFs. Since January it has started to act erratically and I'm now frustrated to a point that this needed a review

I now have an expensive, foldable paper weight because Microsoft office suite is free only online and if you bought it (like I did) to download it, it still verifies the license online and without that the programs only let you view the files.

I'm mostly a portable operator and have settled on the Microsoft Surface Go 3. It's tablet sized but it's a Windows 11 machine. Way lighter than the 17" HP laptop I was using.

The battery is outstanding. It seems to last about 8-9 hours on full brightness and probably 14-15 hours on half (I read online reviews where it indeed lasted for 15 hours). The processor is good, although there are better 10th generation Intel i5 models out there, but the laptop is comfortably quick. The screen is bright, the colors are accurate and feel slightly warm

Finally battery life sucks. The quoted 7 hours is laughable. I dont seem to get much more than 4 maybe 5 hours which is appalling. The good thing is i’m not often that far from a power plug so it’s not been a problem yet

My son loves his new laptop. Fast, mobile, and light due to the size. This far this purchase has exceeded our expectations.

$105 for the alcantara keyboard. Another $30 for a 128gig microSD. Biggest gripe is that I wish the bezels were smaller and the screen closer to 11". If they just improve palm rejection there wouldn't be a need for thick bezel
