Shoes are perfect for those long days when you're gon na be in varying terrain and a really long approaches. Now the first thing i want to talk about is the upper you've got a lot of different materials here and a lot of features in the upper that keep you comfortable, but also give you that secure fit that you need during your approach. So you've got rough out leather that is incredibly durable over the long haul and it breaks in really well in addition to that, you've got sticky Vibram that goes around pretty much the whole shoe you've got a rubber toe Rand here, and that is sticky Vibram rubber

 Now the first thing i want to talk about is the upper you've got a lot of different materials here and a lot of features in the upper that keep you comfortable, but also give you that secure fit that you need during your approach. So you've got rough out leather that is incredibly durable over the long haul and it breaks in really well in addition to that, you've got sticky Vibram that goes around pretty much the whole shoe you've got a rubber toe Rand here, and that is sticky Vibram rubber. This really gives you that fit that you need that secure fit over the lifetime of the shoe. So while some of the other parts of the shoe will break in and fit your feet really well, these parts of the shoe are going to eliminate stretch over time

 You'Ve got an incredibly dense midsole here and it is closed-cell rubber, micropore evie, a rubber, and it's also pretty lightweight so wow. It is a very dense material, a very rigid material. You don't have a whole lot of bend in this shoe. You know if you break it in a little bit: you're gon na have a little bit of Bend, but this really is meant to be a rigid shoe to give you all of that purchase on the rock

 So the midsole here is just as a couple different types of materials, but is meant to last a long time and give a really secure hold moving down to the outsole. You do have Vibram hydro grip, which is the stickiest rubber compound on the market today. So this is going to give you all of that traction that you need now that is mixed with the lugs here. It'S the LA Sportiva impact brake system and the lug pattern is opposing an opposite and that really cuts down on the shock of hard rock

 The tongue of the shoe is padded, so it feels pretty luxurious for an approach shoe when you slip it on your foot. The interior of the shoe is tight and hugs your foot, making it feel more like a comfy trad shoe than a trail runner or a hiking boot.

La Sportiva’s Boulder X is definitely less minimal than the 5.10 Guide Tennie. The tongue of the shoe is padded, so it feels pretty luxurious for an approach shoe when you slip it on your foot. The interior of the shoe is tight and hugs your foot, making it feel more like a comfy trad shoe than a trail runner or a hiking boot

My only complaint in regards to sizing (and this won’t be an issue for most peopole) is that I had to break the shoes in significantly before I could fit my insoles comfortably. Before then, the snug, conforming nature of the shoe meant that there was no excess room for a light insole. However, after wearing the Boulder X all summer, I can now comfortably fit both my foot and my insole inside.

 These shoes are extremely comfortable and I wear them in all kinds of weather. Fantastic grip and stability. The fat round laces are easy to do/undo and tighten (great lacing system) and wear extremely well--no fraying. Absolutely love them
