I wouldn't buy a Cafe Racer. At your size you probably want the 164, which has a 278 mm waist which is WIDE. Speaking from experience with a size 10 foot, the CR's doable but lot of board to move around. I'd avoid Koruas unless you have big feet or are a ripping carver, in general they trend wide and demand good technique

Hello expert snowboarders! 

I need your help. I've been snowboarding the same board for 20+ years (I'm 41 now) and I think it's time to buy a new snowboard. I tried to watch reviews, read articles, etc but holy moly have snowboards become complicated. It's like the reviewers are intentionally using made up words just to confuse me. (Is there a snow-boarding lingo for dummies book?). 

Well, I've managed to narrow it down that I want a **directional carving board** as I don't ride switch and I don't do parks any more. Too many injuries. 

I live in California, I can comfortably ride black diamonds, double blacks are doable just not enjoyed as much. I'm 6' + 200lbs. My current (ancient) board is a Burton Balance. 

I was thinking about the **Korua Shapes Cafe Racer** or the **Bataleon Cruiser**? 

Any help or suggestions are appreciated. I listened to reviews about these and other cruise/carve boards and the nuanced details are just lost on me.

Need help picking a snowboard - I don't understand 95% of what's being said in reviews!

 If you don't know how that rides, well, you're either going to learn or you're going to die, but basically it's going to give you a lot of power, snap and drive out of this board. This board is available in 144, 156, 159 and 164. I rode this board at Copper Mountain on a sunny bluebird day with warmer temps, zero wind, there was chunder snow, lumpy snow, perfect corduroy, little bit of frozen stuff in the shade and for good measure I found some powder pockets to slash with it and I rode it with my Rome Black Label bindings and my K2 Thraxis boots. Clearly this board has a carving free-ride directional flex

 I rode this board at Copper Mountain on a sunny bluebird day with warmer temps, zero wind, there was chunder snow, lumpy snow, perfect corduroy, little bit of frozen stuff in the shade and for good measure I found some powder pockets to slash with it and I rode it with my Rome Black Label bindings and my K2 Thraxis boots. So you have this softer nose that stiffens up right where the camber section starts and then it just stays consistent back through to the tail where it gets a little bit stiffer. There's a little bit of torsional flex, nothing crazy to it

The Good Ride

 Connor, one of our testers, gave it a 5 out of 5 overall rating which is awesome and he thought it was definitely one of the better directional shaped boards with taper and a swallow tail. Who else rode this board? I think Eric rode this board and he gave it a 3. I thought it was super playful for the type of board it is and just easy going, easy to ride which is also great because sometimes you know from the beginning of the day to the end of your day you're getting tired, changing conditions. You always want a board that's kind of easy to ride but gives you a lot of performance

 I would say this would be a good board for intermediate and up. It's got a nice even flex. You can see that. It's not that stiff

22/23 DANCEHAUL

 I took almost a full season with this, and although I didn't get a ton of days, I waited for different conditions in each situation. For example, I got it in some pretty firm, but pretty fun groomers over at Mammoth. Then when I got home at Mount Bachelor, I rode some good groomers, but I primarily after that got it in varied powder conditions, but pretty good powder. And to give you a short summary, this hangs in there with the best of the best when it comes to that alternative free ride, a little shorter, a little wider, but it still has a very versatile do anything kind of feel

 So this review stands and I'm really glad I got to take the time and do this review properly and get this in all conditions and compare it against many of my favorites because it just shows what a great board they made and how recommendable it is, especially at this price point. So there you have it. All our reviews are a best effort, objective opinion from an average rider's perspective. There's no brand oversight and we're free to say whatever we want

 And if you want to go into the park and jib, this has a flex that's soft enough to do it. I didn't. But I wouldn't balk if my friends wanted to go that way and I wanted to hit a jib or two. I could do it on this

 It's very soft, it's very playful, it's very buttery, but yet still very poppy and energetic. It just has a very fun, dynamic, easy flex that can do a lot of things despite its tapered directional shape. It feels centered on board when you set it up on reference, but not too centered. It still has a little bit of that tapered directional feel, and it really compared well and stood out on its own in a lot of places against all these other favorites that I have here

Salomon Dancehaul Snowboard Review vs. Lib Tech Orca, Gnu Gremlin and YES Hybrid

 I'll go through how it rides on groomers, in powder and in the park. The dance hall has the rock out camber profile which means that it's flat between your feet, camber under your feet with rocker on the nose and tail. This is probably Solomon's most popular profile because it works well for so many situations and different riding styles. It has a medium flex rating so it isn't hard to push or flex the board but it isn't so soft that regular riding becomes hard work

 I've ridden and bought a few short boards in the past like the Ride War Pig and Super Pig as well as the Capita Slush Slasher so I had a decent idea of what to expect but I've had the most fun on the dance hall. I'm six foot tall, weigh about 155 pounds or 70 kilograms. Normally I ride boards at around 155 centimeters long. I tested the 147 centimeter dance hall which has a recommended weight range of 60 to 85 kilos so I was right in the middle of the recommended range

I'll go through how it rides on groomers, in powder and in the park. Salomon Dancehaul Snowboard Review

 Hello snowboarders of the internet, I'm your host, Avron LaFeber, and in this video, we're going to be reviewing the Salomon Dancehall. This board features Salomon's rock out camber profile, which is basically camber 2.0, so it's flatter in the middle, comes down into a rocker in the tip and tail, it's a little bit more directional, so basically it's directional cam rocker, and what you get is ease of entry, in and out of turns from that rocker, as well as more optimal powder float, and then the camber profile in itself is also easier to load up, which is going to give you that drive and snap from the center of the board back. This board is available in 143, 147, 152, and 157

 It's easy to engage off the front foot, but all the power derives from inside the back foot through the tail, so if you really want to crank it and lay it over, you're going to disengage that front foot, drive that back knee into the center of the board, and it's just going to whoop through that carve. You can lay trenches with this thing, or you can be surfy and just sort of cruise from one side of the trail back to the other and never really worry about it. Short, tight, quick setup carves, long, hard, drawn out carves. It's good

 This board has one of the easiest camber profiles to actually load up and then just give you pop, so when you load up that camber section, it activates that rocker, and you just spring right off the tail. It's very skate-like. You never really feel like you're aggressively loading it, and the beauty of that is you can launch off everything, whether it's a fallen-over skier, a side hit, a pillow popper, it doesn't matter. This board wants to pop

 People are going to ask why there isn't a current year review, so that's why you're getting it. It was nice to take this into some deeper pow. I just wanted to see how that actually rides and really push it to its limit, and it worked well. It floated well
