I wouldn't buy a Cafe Racer. At your size you probably want the 164, which has a 278 mm waist which is WIDE. Speaking from experience with a size 10 foot, the CR's doable but lot of board to move around. I'd avoid Koruas unless you have big feet or are a ripping carver, in general they trend wide and demand good technique

Hello expert snowboarders! 

I need your help. I've been snowboarding the same board for 20+ years (I'm 41 now) and I think it's time to buy a new snowboard. I tried to watch reviews, read articles, etc but holy moly have snowboards become complicated. It's like the reviewers are intentionally using made up words just to confuse me. (Is there a snow-boarding lingo for dummies book?). 

Well, I've managed to narrow it down that I want a **directional carving board** as I don't ride switch and I don't do parks any more. Too many injuries. 

I live in California, I can comfortably ride black diamonds, double blacks are doable just not enjoyed as much. I'm 6' + 200lbs. My current (ancient) board is a Burton Balance. 

I was thinking about the **Korua Shapes Cafe Racer** or the **Bataleon Cruiser**? 

Any help or suggestions are appreciated. I listened to reviews about these and other cruise/carve boards and the nuanced details are just lost on me.

Need help picking a snowboard - I don't understand 95% of what's being said in reviews!

 If you don't know how that rides, well, you're either going to learn or you're going to die, but basically it's going to give you a lot of power, snap and drive out of this board. This board is available in 144, 156, 159 and 164. I rode this board at Copper Mountain on a sunny bluebird day with warmer temps, zero wind, there was chunder snow, lumpy snow, perfect corduroy, little bit of frozen stuff in the shade and for good measure I found some powder pockets to slash with it and I rode it with my Rome Black Label bindings and my K2 Thraxis boots. Clearly this board has a carving free-ride directional flex

The Good Ride

 Yo Kevin where are we lapping right now? Yeah doing laps in the medium park here at Parishard. Got these classic light blue Parishard tubes and rails. Let's go hit some. Let's do it

 It makes it a little bit slower edge to edge but it does give you more of a platform to balance on on these rail features. That combined with the flat camber profile is actually making it feel really good on these rails. Got a bunch more laps to go. Let's keep lapping through this rail line here

 Oh and the last little bonus is it's got kind of a matte top sheet so you really don't need a stomp pad. The war pig is definitely not a beginner board it's going to be more for intermediate to more advanced riders and I think it's more for someone looking for like a one board solution an all mountain kind of snowboard it's definitely still fun in the park if you want to take some laps through there but I think the real strength on this board is going to be for carving and exploring the mountain and even taking it into powder so if you're looking for one snowboard that's going to offer all that performance for you check out the ride war pig. Ride Warpig Snowboard Review 2020

The Warpig is flat-to-rocker, a Superpig is proper camber and would carve better. As I get older, I’m not a fan of the Ride/LibTech graphics… And gravitate more towards Jones and Arbor’s style of being more understated.

Shopping around for a new board for the first time in coming up on 2 decades and trying to get some feedback. I’m an advanced rider, get down just about anything without issue. Really only avoid EX terrain type stuff. Just don’t have the stones to hit gnarly chutes or drop off cliffs with 2 young kids to take care of. Don’t ride park, but hit the occasional side hit or log if the line looks good. Like steeps, trees and technical terrain that requires planning a line and executing. Currently ride a very old Burton Custom 152 

Most of my riding will be mostly on the east coast, with trips to other places as my schedule allows. I’m 5’8” @ 150-160lbs and wear an 8.5 size boot. 

I’d been eyeing the Burton Instigator 155, Ride Warpig 148 and Lib Tech Orca 147 as boards that seemed well regarded and fit my rider profile. Any other boards I’m overlooking? If I can’t make a decision I’ll demo something, but I’m in WNY so not a ton of ski shops and demo choices when the season rolls around.

What board would you buy if you were me?

 I don't know what they're doing with the side cut. It looks like some kind of multi radius side cut, but it's got pretty competent grip and it's better than a lot of ride boards that I've ridden a while back, like 10 years ago-ish. Those boards used to let go a little bit faster. They've definitely improved the edge hold and it's great for somebody who doesn't like those disrupted side cuts and wants pretty good grip that can handle well in borderline hard snow, not really icy snow, but borderline hard

 A lot of boards with this shape and this size, that kind of shorter, wider ride, have much more setback on board and they ride more off the tail. So then when you combine it with, like, let's say a camper profile like this, flat to rocker with a bigger nose, a little taper in the tail, they float a little better, but this floats really well for, again, being more like a tapered all-mountain board. It's got that wide feel, so it really planes well on top of the snow, and this does jam and powder. I've just found boards with similar shapes do a little bit better with more setback on board, but again, you're compromising a little bit everywhere with this board, so it can do way better on groomers riding centered than most of the boards I'm talking about that excel in powder

 This is the Ride Warpig Large. I rode this with my trusty Burton Kendo's and my Union Atlas. Tried it with a few other Bionines as well and got it out in some late spring conditions. Sometimes it sucked, sometimes it was pretty good, and sometimes it was really good spring snow

Ride Warpig 2022 Snowboard Review - Compared to Superpig and Psychocandy

 I like the shorter board as it provided more agility when making tight turns in trees or on moguls. I’m around 6’2” 170 and the board has never sunk on me. It does very well in powder and has a very lofty feel on pow days. The board is very responsive to quick turns and has the proper flex for a speedy decent off the slopes

In Colorado we see a fair amount of powder and this board handles it very well with the set back stance. I am a directional rider and don’t find myself riding goofy often but I can assure you the tail does have enough of an angle to not catch when riding that direction

The Goldilocks Board

i'm 5'5" at 140 pounds. carving on this snowboard was good. sintered base for faster riding. it is a medium flex, but just a little more on the stiffer side

 With the wide snowboard you don't have to worry about toe or heel drag. One thing I really liked about the Warpig is the flex. I thought it was going to be a bit stiffer than it was. I would say it's right around a 5 out of 10

 Just by looking at the shape of this guy you can tell it's probably gonna be a lot of fun carving. It's got a pretty aggressive side cut. It swoops in a pretty good bit and you can also tell from that directional shape with the short tail and setback stance that it's gonna float pretty well in powder. With that medium flex this board is actually surprisingly a lot of fun in the park too

 I thought it was going to be a bit stiffer than it was. I would say it's right around a 5 out of 10. It's a pretty solid medium flex. It's not an overpowering snowboard

 I gotta say this type of snowboard is absolutely perfect for the conditions we have out here on Mount Hood here in the summertime. We get some really soft slushy snow out here so that wide width really helps out with the slushy snow because you tend to sink down into it. With the wide snowboard you don't have to worry about toe or heel drag. One thing I really liked about the Warpig is the flex
