According to Sony this is normal. This is a definite negative feature of this sound bar.

Great sound, but the remote control interferes with my tv (e.g. pressing the surround button changes my tv input, or volume up causes netflix to scrub backward) and there is no workaround. Hard to recommend at this price point with this glaring of a bug

You can control the sound from the tv but can’t change anything or turn the sub up or down without this remote.

No option for a wired connection to the woofer. Included optical cable. It also has hdmi arc but I use the optical. Wish it had better control on the top of the sound bar
