Hey all, so the research I’ve been doing says that the best washer seems to be a mechanical speed queen or Maytag. However, my partner and I have had nothing but trouble with agitators in terms of damage to our clothes. We don’t have kids, so we don’t have super frequent stains.

In fact, it's good. If you ask me a little too much friction, but maybe that goes away with time over here it has the pre-wash little spot here, soap ...

The simpler, the better. I would avoid front loading washing machines as they tend to have many more issues with leaks and mold. I've always preferred top loading machines as they tend to have higher capacities and modern ones without an agitator work amazingly well. I have a Maytag high capacity top loader that we got about 3 years ago when we bought the house we are in now, its been a great machine

If you decide to wait on hold (I eventually had to do that in order to speak to someone), you may wait over two hours WHICH IS WHAT I HAD TO DO. I was emailed a delivery time range but the maximum provided proved half the real wait. And in the end, after being promised by three different Costco appliance people that my order included installation or I could get someone to do it for me and Costco would reimburse me, Costco only paid $150 which was well short of the actual installation cost.

The control panel is the most expensive part of the dishwasher, it is not covered by the 10 year parts warranty, and it was evidently not designed or built for long-term survivability. It can't be repaired because its design is proprietary. Since this two-year old dishwasher model is now obsolete (no doubt because it was poorly designed), so is the control panel!

Got a warranty repair visit - the theory is that a part is going bad related to the drain.

Now, if you're going to buy a product - and you want to get good service - and you want it to last - do not buy anything from the Whirlpool Corporatio...

AND there is a completely abnormal sound issue with this model that the manufacturer deems "normal": the Diverter & Stem sleeve make a grinding/scraping noise at what I consider to be unacceptable noise levels. The mechanic came to fix it and basically said "yep, most kitchen aid units have this problem which the manufacturer says is "normal"".

I have been in rentals for 30 plus years. (From 1988 to 2001 dishwashers worked great; steam poured out the front, they were super loud and you could put a "combination pizza" in there and it would be gone, they lasted forever—and this one has finger-print-proof super thick stainless steel!) Then the whole "Decibel rating thing came on" because some grandma or hipsters from a Remington Steel rerun where some cocktail generation dude was trying to woo an angel-face-bride with Moscow Mules to the tune of Marvin Gaye and then the DW clicked on. The old review-crowd wanted a quiet setting? Meanwhile the whole country got honking horn things to lock their cars, and nobody covered their mouths anymore when they coughed—basically, the whole country got "NO Manners!" anymore. And for some reason wanted dishwashers that were quiet? I threw away my last two 2016 Whirlpool's (I know they are made 'assembled' in the same warehouse) but this beauty is solid and actually washes them, in an era where we actually went to the moon and back
