 It works and does provide a suitable means to grip the knife. The absolutely massive handle also offers plenty of room for you to grasp and grab the handle in any way you see fit. 

The lockup is also friction, and the blade stays in place by holding the handles together. The latch can lock it into place as well. The latch does lock up the knife rather well and remains very tight. With the latch, the blade doesn’t move even a bit, not a hair’s worth of movement

The blade is made from stainless steel from Sandvik, known as 14C28N. Stainless means we excellent protection from corrosion, and the knife needs it. The balisong handle is not a sealed design, so it’s exposed to everything all the time. The steel itself was exclusive to Kershaw for a few years, and they seem to be producing amazing knives with it

 The rounded handle bevels do make the task a little easier and ensure you can spin the blade into action when needed. It’s just gonna take practice, and if you are new to these knives, then get a trainer, they’re cheap and worth it.

This knife is excellent for rollover moves, due to its weight. It's also great for moves like shortstop and the like. It has very good momentum and it's very durable.

 Every movement was easier and smoother feeling in my hands.  For around 100 bucks, you really can't get a better trainer than this imo. Combined with the fact that you can also buy the perfect live blade knife to go with it and get the same balance/weight, the combo of those two knives is great. Practice on your trainer, and then once you're ready you can switch to the live blade version and it feels the same

 I have to choke my my up on the scales. I would prefer a blunted spine on the back of the blade. I foresee Kershaw adding tension O rings to the tang to slow down the handles a little. All in all good but but 3 small tweaks and this knife would be top tear and give $300-$500 balisongs a run for their money

 Now to mention this is their first production market available balisong. Enough said. To make point of the factory edge that Kershaw provides on every knife. I can personally attest

 material choices. shape. which some would argue have perfect variables. Id'e say to them

 $200-$300 would've been my next option if not for this blade. Quite impressive and hats off to Kershaw and their team for such an example of craftsmanship and inner mechanics choice for the parts as individuals. You can bring any enthusiast or professional to handle this blade and ask for critiques. Which no blade is ever 100% perfect since it'll always come to personal preference

 To make point of the factory edge that Kershaw provides on every knife. I can personally attest. Even if you're highly skilled with intricate tricks. Please pay caution to the respect of the point and edge finish on this blade
