I have the 42$ one and I love it! It's also the model that my school's outdoor program has and it works super well even cooking for big groups. Super easy to use and tough as hell!

I really like the layout and access through all the zippered pockets, but still love packing in compression cubes and throwing those in there. It’s flexible enough that you should be able to cram it into whatever restrictions in terms of international carry-on. Only reason not to get 42 would be if you have a really short torso and it felt too big.

The reason I got the 42 over the 35 was because of the load lifters. I ordered both to figure it out, packed the same things in both, and the lifters made a huuuge difference. Biggest drawback from a feature standpoint is the water bottle holder. It won’t hold a 750mL chute, but should hold a smartwater bottle.
