I'm willing to spend the money for a machine that will last me a decade, but for now want to look at $750 as my top spend. No pets, just an old house and children that make vacuuming a constant need.

Also, if you have notions of not stopping to use the tools--stop your notioning. You will need the tools to get under things because no amount of lowering of the upright part will get you under a bed or a couch. See #3. Flipside? For mostly carpet you'll want a powerhead with physical height adjustment and a bagged vacuum will last longer. The Sebo Dart and Sebo Felix are great uprights that will easily last 10 years, in fact Sebo's motor warranty is 10 years. For a canister the Miele C1 Cat & Dog and Sebo K3 are good and the Miele C3 Kona and Sebo E3 are better. If you can visit a Miele and Sebo vacuum store it's best as then you can try them out first as every vacuum moves differently and has it's positives and negatives

I liked the power of it, great suction , however, it was too tall and too heavy for me. I had to return it because of that and difficulty maneuvering.

Also do you guys know if I can use the Felix exhaust filters on the Dart I can't seem to find anywhere saying you can but I don't see why they'd be different. TL;DR: SEBO Dart is good vacuum.

At least it had one for being mid range on price. The height settings are really good. It's got 4. Those self adjusters from others never seem to work right

Someone complained about it being hard to hold on to because of that power, but I'm a relatively strong girl and I don't mind getting a workout while I vacuum. I just want to know why in this day and age when there are so many innovative and intelligent designers we can't get the hand tools right on a vacuum? I mean, does the company even care what it is like to use that short hose? Do any of the people designing the vacuum take it and use it in their homes to see what the experience will be like? All they have to do is give some vacuums out to their employees and have them report back how it was to use the hand tools. Do they even know?

The issue with the Dyson isn’t “too much suction”. The problem is with the cleaner head design, it can’t adjust high enough for plush carpeting.

It has good power and uses hepa bags for very good filtration. The next recommended vacuum is the Kenmore Elite/BU1017 it starts at $300.

Empty it when it gets full, rinse the pre-motor filter at the top of the bin as specified, occasionally clean the screen inside of the bin whenever necessary, remove any tangling from the brush roll, and replace the exhaust filter when it becomes dirty and it is a great unit. Maintaining any vacuum cleaner is the key to making it last a long time.

Sebo says that it can't be washed but I'll probably buy a replacement when it's time and then see if the old one will wash up. The second filter is the motor filter and costs around $15. Sounds kind if expensive butI do like having those filters since I have allergies. The Kenmore's on-board hose is quite short and they no longer sell the extension hose to my disappointment. It does come with an extender wand and a long crevice tool, but the Hoover is still better for attachment mode.

Best thing for vacuums. Easy to empty and you DON'T have to disassembly half the vacuum every month to clean 6 or 8 different parts like all bagless vacuums. Do yourself a favor, buy a bagged vacuum. - Quiet
