I wont purchase another KaBar product if this is the direction they're headed with their quality. I would avoid this knife. It is WAY overpriced for what you get. I have a knock off that is actually of higher quality

Great all-around knife! Decent price for a laminated Steel! Checkout lionsteel M4 from Italy. I consider this to be the best quality of all knives I've seen so far. It's made with m390 super steel! Which I consider one of the best super steals out there and the price is unbeatable. I own both and you can't go wrong with either one

It does come with a sturdy leather sheath but I went with the "package" option and got the hard knife sheath and sharpener. I prefer the hard sheath as it is more rigid and doesn't flap as much as the leather one when worn on the hip.

The leather sheath that came with it is top quality leather and well made. Just go out and buy it, you will not be disappointed, its well worth the money

- The leather sheath that comes with this is stamped with the US Army logo and isn't as sturdy as the black leather sheath. It's great for display purposes though. (It will scratch fairly easily and is definitely more for show.) If you want to take it camping, I recommend you buy the plain leather sheath separately (or the black one) as they are more sturdy, and you won't care about beating them up

Ok about the knife itself...it is a KA-BAR made in the good Old US of A (few things are anymore sadly) (the sheath is made in Mexico but is very good quality leather it is well stitched and is stacked as well as having rivets for reinforcement) secondly it is very well balanced and the steel in these new ones are 1095 carbon steel High Quality easy to sharpen and holds an edge for a very long time

i beat on it all weekend long ( batoning, shaving, carving, and even small to medium chopping) and it passed every test at the campsite. holds its edge well as i have not needed to sharpen yet. the only complaint, and it doesnt bother me much at all, is that it does not stay in the sheath when opened and held upside down. the slightest of shakes and the blade fell out ( watch out for your toes if you try this test!), otherwise i love this little knife have recommended it to a few friends

I had difficulty cutting a piece of notebook paper which is my test for blade sharpness.
