America's Test Kitchen

Our favorite aspect of the Jetboil MightyMo stove was its fuel-adjuster knob, which provided nuanced and even heat control, going from low to medium to high heat smoothly. It made delicately scrambling eggs and simmering a pot of grocery-store backpacker Alfredo an easy and refined experience. The built-in piezo igniter was another great feature; to get the stove started, we just opened the fuel-adjuster valve and pressed the igniter. On the downside, we had some difficulty extending and folding the pot supports after multiple uses—the metal seemed to warp slightly and catch on the bottom of the burner. Also, when faced with steady wind, the stove took more than 10 minutes to boil 2 cups of water. The pot supports were also slightly less grippy than those of other stoves, so some cookware slid around. However, Jetboil sells a pot and a skillet separately that promise to solve these issues. We tested both and found that the skillet sat very stably on the stove, and the pot did decrease the time to boil water against wind, boiling in 4 minutes and 33 seconds. This was slightly slower than the Soto model, but not by much. Overall, we recommend buying Jetboil cookware for your Jetboil stove for the best results.

  Ability to Balance: Here's where the MightMo loses a star. While the legs on MightyMo are stable and strong, you'll be hard-pressed to use smaller cups and pots on it. Sure, JetBoil offers some add-ons to make balancing easier, but then weight becomes a factor once more

There are cheaper models, such as the BRS -3000T that weigh much less, around 28 grams, that work just fine, but other factors give the MightMo an edge.  I Don't have any of those. I'm going to use it just like this. They have claims that if you use some of their proprietary stuff on top, it'll boil faster. Not really interested in that either

Okay, you get this little carrying case nice orange, you get a little stand that you can put your propane on and then you get the stove itself. Okay, the first thing we're gonna do is take a look at each of these components and weigh them

 so I imagine it's probably a fairly similar system, but if it works every time that it is definitely something that I think will take it over something like the pocket rocket which as far as I know does not have an integrated piezo with it. You have to get a little separate thing similar to the one I have for my Cove a spider remote canister stove I think the weight is completely acceptable three and a half ounces. You do not need this plastic thing at the bottom if you have a nice level place to set your fuel, but it is nice to have. It is something you can cut weight wise if you want to

 and of course you do not have to carry. Bank So definitely something very ultralight and I think very effective I Do like the idea that it gives you more turns with the control knob and that should theoretically give you a better ability to control simmering. We're gonna do a test on that later on as part of some field testing with this because I think being able to just simmer something is really difficult to times and I hope that this particular stove will work and that's one of the main reasons I got it because of the claims that it can do that. Best Ultralight Stove? - Review of the Jetboil Mighty Mo Canister Stove

It works well, it's just kind of heavy. Especially when there are $20 dollar ones, much lighter that apparently do the exact same thing. Still, it boils insanely quickly. Like seriously it was less than a minute before two cups of water I was heating got scalding hot

Loved it when it arrived, but the auto igniter broke after the fourth time using it. The spark fails to reach the tip of the coil so now it's a overpriced manual ignition stove. Other than that it would have been a five star rating, this thing can simmer like a champ and turn into a blowtorch to boil water in no time flat. Great idea, lightweight, hot stove. But mine is wobbly and unusable due to design flaw.

Love the size and ease to pack when hunting or backpacking. I've had mine for a little over 3 years and I use more often when hunting than I do my Coleman 2-burner camp stove. Sadly this year the igniter stopped lighting so I have to have a lighter or matches handy. Other than that I still use and prefer over my stove, especially when back packing obviously!!

I love the compact nature of this product. I used a different Jetboil product that is an integrated unit that combines the burner with an integrated heating container and I love it. However, I needed to place a pan for cooking on the burner and needed a little more stability than the burner on the integrated unit. This one did the job and it is ridiculously compact and folds up to be even more compact

 I tested the stove with 2 boil tests. Tests 1 was with 2 cups of water in my usual backpacking pot. I set the timer and was amazed when 2 cups boiled in 2.5 minutes

 After 75 seconds, I had a rolling boil.  the lightweight design and the smart carrying case are a nice perk for backpacking. Many similar products provide you with a small bag, which does nothing to protect the stove in your pack. The pot supports fold out to accept a container of decent diameter size

 I'll keep it as an example to others I hike and camp with comparing it to other options.  I have not contacted seller or manufacturer for a refund or new product. I will take 3/3 bad eggs as a sign to use existing better options.

 They do not support themselves upright and placing a pot is tricky without them falling until the pot is in place. Any incline and the pots weight will cause the stands to fall. The stands weight distribution with the angle they are at are poorly designed. If the stands were able to be tightened further without stripping the threads, this wouldn't be an issue until heavy use

Defect, or poor quality product.

 I Bought the Pocket Rocket - I Had this stove which was given to me by my dear old friend. Michelle Oh back in the summer of 2016. I'm not entirely sure who makes this one when I looked on Amazon I found a few different sellers offering it for about 10 bucks, give or take. Well seems to have branded it using their own logos

 specifically the MSR Pocket Rocket version 2 and why? After using this one for almost three years, I Think it's a great option for most people. So as I just mentioned, I've had this stove for almost three years now. During that time I've used it on all of my camping and backpacking adventures in places like Virginia Colorado, New, Hampshire, Iceland, New, York and Maine and so far I have no complaints. However, aside from the MSR Pocket Rocket - there are a bunch of other options out there offering different features at different price points
