 So i had them up on stands, which are three feet high and i had to be within like a shot of that plug and then there was no plug over there. It was terrible, so i went online and i bought 15 foot power cords for it, because mono price has really cheap power cords and i would recommend you get something unless you have one of those bar strips across your desk you're, going to want longer power cords For these to use them in a room now, so you feed it signal rca from a deck or you can even buy the rca to quarter inch or if you've got a pro interface. You could just go xlr uh, the! Let me talk about why these exist and uh why people use them, because this rca about everything uses that we you pretty much looking at is two volt. So, if there's interference along the length of it, if there's a quarter, volt of interference, it's getting shoved in there, that's an eighth

 The cost is irrelevant because these are the best speakers i've ever put on a desk ever i say that a lot a lot i like the martin logan lx16, is the best tweeter and the best tweeter and the shane's the best low end. This is a whole speaker. Now it's a self-powered monitor, which means a couple things to you. Uh, you don't need an amplifier, you do still need a dac or some sort of sound

 I put them up because of how good they are. I had to know uh here's a decibel sensitivity input. I don't know if you have to change this based on which input you're using because i've only used the xlr so far, but right now it's at negative 10 dbv, which is working fine for this and then i guess you switch it to plus 4dbu. Maybe if you're using this, i don't know i'll check that out the power cords comes with our four feet, long, which is as long as this desk, and that was a joke

 You know two decibels is hardly noticeable, even if, like you're concentrating - and they only really work at this sort of distance desk distance, which these speakers don't just work at desk distance, because i had these speakers up on my main stands and on those stands and everywhere. I could put these speakers up. I put them up because of how good they are. I had to know uh here's a decibel sensitivity input

Z Review - JBL LSR305 Powered Monitors

 Okay up next we've got yamaha's hs5. This is a by amplified studio, monitor with the rear, ported cabinet. It'S got a five inch woofer and a newly designed one-inch dome tweeter on the back of the cabinet. We'Ve got balanced, xlr and trs inputs, high frequency trim, control and a low frequency room control and finally, carrick's rocket 5 g3

 Let'S briefly, go over each monitor and then we'll hear an audio comparison. Jbl'S new lsr 305 is a bi-amplified reported studio, monitor with a magnetically shielded, 5-inch woofer and a 1-inch soft dome tweeter on the back you'll find balance, xlr and trs inputs and low and high frequency trim controls. The 305 also features jbl's new image control waveguide, which was originally developed for their twenty thousand dollar per pair m2 master reference monitors. JBL LSR305 Yamaha HS5 and KRK RP5G3 Comparison Review

I have a pair of JBL LSR305's that I really like. I used to have a pair of LS308's but they were too big for the mix position and the bottom end seemed to lose intelligibility in the low mids and sub bass. My room is decently treated but it's still a small/medium sized room, so of course I have a bass null in certain positions around 100hz.

 So you set the max amplification that you would like. Generally, you don't want to set an amplifier all the way up to its highest volume, because then you can get some distortion and clipping. You want to leave it between halfway and three-quarters. I like to adjust mine to where, when I set the volume on my amp to something that's comfortably listenable for my headphones

 If you have something that can, if you have something like a go rack that I have little box with a substance that can actually make these things, produce a good amount of bass, but there's still like a certain point where once it gets so low, it just Picks it out so there's a reason why so many people recommend and only speakers and that's just because of their overall value for the money with their relatively small form-factor. So it's a really neat little little package and it also has an auxilary input. So if you want to feed audio from your phone or something out to your speakers, you can do that too and, like I said the volume control you can use it as a preamp. So this is a neat little little thing and if you don't want to spend, I mean I think it's like thirty dollars

 You want to leave it between halfway and three-quarters. I like to adjust mine to where, when I set the volume on my amp to something that's comfortably listenable for my headphones. If I turn on the speaker's that same volume on the amp will be about the same. Just like a nice comfortably listenable volume, I'm going to turn this one around and we are going to talk about how these things perform so being five five inch woofers

JBL LSR305 - the best entry-level speakers?

 But for the modest price, these monitors deliver fantastic performance. For a home studio, they are an excellent value.

Bought these monitors a few months ago when I started getting serious about mixing at home. The difference between these monitors and the speakers built into my iMac (even with those speakers heavily EQ'd to correct for their inherent deficiencies) is night and day. The clarity and accuracy is really eye-opening (or ear-opening, I suppose).  With 5" woofers, they are not the loudest monitors in the world, but do you really want them to be if you're listening in a bedroom/basement studio? They are more than powerful enough for mixing in that sort of environment

 These puppies give me all the bass that I need.  Since I use my computer for my day job in addition to making music, I listen to tunes on these monitors all day long. It's a great way to tune my ears to the speakers, so that when it comes time to do my own mixes, my point of reference is what all my favorite albums sound like on these same monitors. And BONUS: it's a real treat for my ears to hear all my favorite music in such clarity!  Are there better monitors out there? Probably, for a lot more money

Incredible Value for Home Studios

 These are not speakers for typical audio system, but rather designed as studio monitors and really more for this type of application.

Typical JBL build quality! Solid, robust and just well put together, with awesome audio quality.. In that category there are a lot of players, but JBL has a handle on studio monitors and full range flat response monitors since forever. These are no exception

I needed a pair of studio monitors with as close to FRFR as I could get... This was to use for my guitar and modeling amps, which require this type of product

They're very close to my Yamaha HS8's, which are as close to FRFR as one can get, but they're a bit smaller, more compact with a bit less bass, and under half the price. I needed something more portable as I'm going to use these when I travel. They fit the bill and are very accurate in terms of sound reproduction.

They're pretty big and take up a fair amount of room at my workstation, but they are so worth it. Total overkill for desktop audio. Audio is crisp and clear when sitting in the sweet spot. Bass is low enough for near field, but you're not going to be shaking the wall panels with these alone

It does. In my home studio I use the Yamaha HS7 which are great as a neutral monitor for mixing but lack a bit of punch when I listen to music while working home office. So I bought a used Behringer EX 4000 II, only slightly used bass enhancement and overtone addition and it’s like having bought much more expensive speakers. Not quite in Focal Twin territory yet but closer. (I have to switch it off for my Stax headphones though as they clearly show the added distortion.) Plus room correction via a DEQ2496, improved bass performance as well (fortunately my room wasn’t very critical to begin with).

I've been to many houses/places/showrooms with $$$$$ systems in less than ideal rooms, and majority of them were underwhelming, to say the least.  In contrast, digitally corrected rooms, even with much less expensive equipment, like a decent receiver with Audyssey/Dirac/ARC, can sound much better when properly calibrated.

I mean, some of my audiophile friends obsess with stuff like cables, DACs, etc... but don't bother minimizing the ill effects of their room to the sound.  I know somebody who owns a $5000 DAC, yet the room sounded like an echo chamber.

Do you agree that room correction (Audyssey, Dirac, ARC, etc.) makes a "decent" system sound better than "purist" megabuck system in untreated room?

 They're actually really heavy but also in a good way because they feel really sturdy. Also the surface they're made of doesn't scratch or anything it just feels really good. Depending on the style of your room you can get these monitors in either black or white. In terms of connections you have a three pin power input on the back
