Since it ships unlocked from the factory, you can overclock the Core i7-9700K to eke out even more performance than Intel intends. This voids the warranty, so don't try it unless you know what you're doing and you're running software that can actually benefit from higher clock speeds.

 At 4K resolution, the GPU's capabilities are far more important, which is why most of the 4K results in our chart are within a few frames per second of one another. This is more of an issue at 1080p if you're running a high-refresh-rate monitor, where the difference between 100fps and 150fps actually might show up on your screen.

The Ryzen 7 3700X and Core i7-9700K also performed roughly the same in our 7-Zip folder-compression test...

Geez, Two and a half years ago, However, how does this chip hold up in 2021 and are eight physical cores enough to tackle 4k content creation? All right. The i7-9700k in 2021 - Are 8 Threads Enough?

COOLING: The full loop is from EKWB's fluid gaming lineup, so everything is comparable and from the same company. The loop is set up in a parallel loop, which just looks cooler imo. The 360mm radiator is from EKWB fluid gaming too, and it has 3 arctic p12 120mm fans on it. These are the best fans for water cooling loops, and they are even better than noctua in terms of performance, however if you would prefer RGB fans I have some corsair HD120s which I could replace them with, at the cost of performance

 With my H150i Pro 360mm AIO and Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut my CPU will idle around 30 C with a room temp of 23 C. My 6600k idled at 24 C with a Hyper 212 evo. After 30 minutes on Prime95 I max around 80 C and it will not rise after any further length of testing.  New build: Aigo Atlantis case i7 9700k @ 4

I'm torn with this processor. Moving up from the 6600k at 4.5Ghz that I ran for the past 2 years this processor obviously is much better than the first gen 14nm in productivity. However I can't say that I'm blown away by the gaming performance increase that I netted

Previous build: cpu: 4790K @4.4GHz cooler: Cooler Master GeminII S524 Version 2 mobo: MIS Z97 Gaming 7 gpu: Asus ROG Strix OC 1080 Ti memory: Corsair Vengeance 2 x 8 DDR3 1600MHz psu: Corsair TX750  Current build: cpu: 9700K @5.1GHz cooler: CORSAIR H100i PRO RGB mobo: Asus ROG Strix Z390-I gpu: Asus ROG Strix OC 1080 Ti memory: Corsair Vengeance 2 x 16 DDR4 3200MHz psu: Corsair HX850i  9700K v 9900K: For gaming, the 9700K is ~$120-150 cheaper and you only lose a few frames and in some cases gain frames

  If you are looking for a high performance gaming cpu, this should be on your short list. Gaming benchmarks comparing the 9700K v 9900K show negligible differences. I'll leave the AMD debate/comparisons for others.  I'll let the benchmarks I've attached speak for themselves, but here is the tldr

Workhorse gaming CPU! Overclock friendly. Running 5.1GHz @1.385v

 Under load, the CPU can get up to 82C. I have noticed that the CPU likes to sit above the base clock of 3.6 Ghz. This could be the settings on my Gigabyte Z390 Mobo that have Performance settings enabled

 This CPU, 9700K, runs HOT unless you get a high end cooler. Don't go cheap and get a Hyper 212 Evo or similar model. Get a good quality air cooler or go water cooled. I chose this: Noctua NH-U12S - Premium CPU Cooler with NF-F12 120mm Fan (Brown) 

6 Ghz. This could be the settings on my Gigabyte Z390 Mobo that have Performance settings enabled. Overall, I am happy with this processor.  Update 4/23/19 I added a second fan, push/pull, to my Noctua CPU Cooler and I fired up Prime95

**GPU** As for the GPU, I went with a 3-fan, 2-slot RTX 3060 Ti from EVGA. This case supports even larger 3-slot cards, but I wasn't looking to break the bank on anything fancier than a 3060 Ti. There are 2-fan variants available, but considering I had the space for some extra cooling and I'm hoping this thing runs quietly, I decided to upgrade to a mid-range 3-fan card.
