Intel Core i5-11600K
Feels good to be bringing my Dan A4 to school and just game
It's a Dan A4 with Alpenfohn Black Ridge cooler, i5 11600K, a 6600XT and an MSI Spatium 1TB ssd (arguably the best thing about this build since it's sooooo damn fast. Coming from a spacious Cooler Master H500, I was honestly really impressed with the thermals here! Sure I tweaked the fan curve since I don't mind her getting a bit loud, but the 6600XT is 55° under max load, and the CPU rarely hitting 70° except for Prime95, which brought it to 100° (didn't throttle though). I'm literally so glad I can fit my PC in my backpack along with my Macbook!

Works Great!
It's been roughly 6-7 years since I last build my gaming computer. Upgrading to this has been more than significant. As of this writing, I hope you've done your research the I7-12700k's price point and its competition. For this price point, it may be the top dog. Some things to consider before purch...

Even so, we think the 11600K is not the chip to go for because its performance-to-value play is not that strong.

Intel Core i5-11600K CPU Review & Benchmarks: Gaming, Overclocking, Video Editing, & More
So for this one where the 11700k, like the 3800xt should be snapped out of existence, the 11600k actually comes out looking very competitive in gaming. Specifically factoring in the price, that's its major advantage now the same position that Amd was in approximately three to four years ago, so hopefully that roughly sums it up for you. The 11600k has places where we would definitely recommend it as a an option for a budget gaming build

Intel Core i7-12700K Review - Almost as Fast as the i9-12900K
I'm happy to report that on average, there's little performance to be gained, and it just lowers energy efficiency.

Intel actually takes an even further lead at the i7 and i5 levels, with the Core i7 12700K beating the Ryzen 5800X by 16% on average, and the Core i5 12600K beating the Ryzen 5600X by a large 26%. And based on what we saw with the i9 12900K, we would expect those numbers to increase by roughly another 10% on average if you were to utilize DDR5 memory.

Price

Intel Core i5-11600K
Most logical 11th gen intel for the majority
Bought together with a asus tuf z590 board, practically fell together and booted issue free. Problem free xmp, pci express 4.0, and high temps in the mid 60s. For those who are die hard intel or don’t want to deal with the sourcing issues with ryzen, gaming wise this is the best bang for the buck.

Intel Core i7-12700K
Relatively new to PC building. Having a hard time understanding how to see why/how one GPU is better than another, and also how components all work together to create a PC
So then i7-12700 and the letter designation such as K. Considered a high end gaming CPU, the Intel i7-12700k runs $420. So yes it gets kinda confusing on buying parts. So what I ask up front is WHAT you're going to use it for? If you answer that you want to surf the web, email, and law end gaming, such as mine craft, you do not need a big rig.

Intel Core i5-11600K
The onboard graphics are better than the 10th Gen i5 10500
I own a Gigabyte Z490M Gaming X motherboard. It has two M.2 slots, but one that doesn't work (labeled limited functionality). It turns out that Gigabyte built ahead to provide added functionality once the 11th Gen processors were released. So, when the new processors came out, I replaced my 10th Gen...
