 My network security team flagged the device because it was flooding my companies firewall logs with over 1,000 DNS calls with in a 24 hour period.  Aside from that fact the device sends data back to the manufactuer, the quality of the webcam was superb, the AI tracking worked flawlessly, and overall the WebCam performed as advertised. However, buyer beware that this device phones home a lot and it's difficult to determine exactly what data/information iss being sent to China from my Windows laptop. Because I can't use the device I'm forced to return it

Excellent WebCam but Pings Chinease Domain 1K Per Day

 I've also set the camera on a tripod and kind of gotten it in that horizontal orientation. So now you need to actually go over the resolution and flip it to the one that you want. So I'm going to do 1088 by 1920. And with it in that mode, you can see that the camera changes itself

 It's a really cool little camera. That's probably one of the first things that surprised me the most is how compact it is. We're recording on here so you can see the camera as well. And it's very small sitting on top of my monitor here

And its PZT functions make it a much more versatile solution for multi-cam streaming setups. All the reviews talk about the image quality but it’s hard to find one that mentions the built-in microphone. I use this extensively for work calls and this was a huge upgrade over my laptop’s built-in microphone and another webcam one I had. All my coworkers noticed the better picture while my customers can easily hear me. Works on Windows 10 and 11

The Opal C1 webcam is both an exciting indication of things to come in the future of webcams overall and also a niche product that probably won&rsquo;t appeal to most users. If money is no object, then yes, this camera probably takes the best photos and video on this list. At the same time, it costs $300, its software is Mac-only, and said software costs $4 a month.
It&rsquo;s an easy-to-use software suite, sure, and there are convenient features such as bokeh and an AI powered touch-up function. But we&rsquo;ve seen similar functionality for cheaper elsewhere, and it doesn&rsquo;t make you sign up for yet another &ldquo;service.&rdquo;

Would you consider buying a $299.99 webcam? That’s the cost of Opal’s C1, which is now available to purchase on an invite-only basis. My guess is that many of you will say no. Others, who are on the never-ending quest to look good for all of those Zoom meetings, might have a list of questions in need of some really convincing answers, and rightfully so

Opal has good answers to those questions. But having a chance to try the webcam itself was more convincing than any answer I received. The C1 aims to — and mostly succeeds at — supplying DSLR-like image quality (complete with plenty of background separation or bokeh) for far less than a decent camera-turned-webcam might cost you, without all of the dongles and other hardships that sometimes come with the territory.

 My guess is that many of you will say no. Others, who are on the never-ending quest to look good for all of those Zoom meetings, might have a list of questions in need of some really convincing answers, and rightfully so. Like, why pay this much when there are so many other more economical options, including using your phone as a webcam? And why go with newcomer Opal over legacy brands like Logitech?

 Compared to my MacBook Pro’s built-in microphone, my voice is just as clear, but through the C1 it has a little more resonance and depth to it. When I was recording a sample, some home construction next door started, and while its noise cancellation effects weren’t great, it was capable of picking my voice out from all of the noise.
