If you want a basic option, a cheap TV like the Insignia NS-50F501NA22 is a good alternative to the Hisense U6H if you want the best 50-inch smart TV at a low cost. As expected for a cheap TV, you lose out on features and performance, but it still offers okay value for a low-cost model. What makes it better than other cheap TVs is that it uses quantum dot technology, similar to the Hisense U6H, to display a wide range of colors in HDR. It uses the Fire TV smart platform, which is user-friendly, and there are a ton of apps you can download, making it easy to stream your favorite content.

Like the Hisense, its native contrast ratio is excellent, but it doesn't have a local dimming feature to further improve the contrast. There are also a few drawbacks with this TV as it has problems properly upscaling lower-resolution content from DVDs, so if you watch a lot of this format, it's better to go for a TV like the TCL 4 Series/S455 2022. However, it costs a bit more and doesn't get as bright as the Insignia.

 I’ve gone through a ridiculous amount of batteries and thought I was maybe doing something wrong (??) but I did some digging and it looks like a lot of people experience the same issue. I do not have an Alexa and I don’t utilize any of the Alexa features with this remote or tv, so there is no reason for the batteries to be dying at such a rapid rate unless it’s somehow recording me constantly anyway. Again, nice tv for the price. I just can’t use it because this horrible remote is constantly dead

If you have a wide seating arrangement, look into the Samsung Q80/Q80A QLED. It has worse dark room performance than the TCL 6 Series/R646 2021 QLED because its IPS-like panel has low contrast, and the local dimming is mediocre. However, it has wide viewing angles, and the image remains accurate when viewed from the side. Its speakers sound similar to the TCL, and it has better bass, but you still won't get the true rumbling and thumping you'll get with a subwoofer. I didn't get the chance to hook up a ps5 or an xbox series x to this tv in time for the review, but i can tell you that, based on its specs should be very good for those new consoles. The tv has 4k 120 hertz input

 What you're buying this tv for is design and features. It has a really nicely integrated external look with a great remote and a really nice smart tv system. It also has excellent connectivity if those are reason enough for you or you just like the samsung brand. The q8t is the best value in the lineup for 2020

Samsung Q80T QLED TV review

 And the fast refresh rate is no doubt great for gaming. Also, the "smart" features (like using streaming apps, etc) is much improved from older TVs at this price point. This TV has a faster processor and that makes switching from Youtubetv to Netflix, etc., much easier

 The soundbar works, but I can't use one remote to control volumes, etc. That's disappointing. The 6 speaker sound on the QLED 80A is an improvement over older TVs at this price point, but not as good as a soundbar w/ subwoofer. Wish I could figure this out (if anyone knows the solution, please comment and tell me)

It's good/ as advertized, some quirks I don't like

 Too cumbersome and quality is very lacking on the 3rd party apps I've found. Only other option I see is casting, but why did I buy this tv if I have to cast? Casting is in low res as far as I've found so not a great option. Voice recognition is worthless and doesn't seem to understand much in the way of commands and finding stuff. Kinda like trying to get Siri to understand what you're looking for

  However, Samsung needs to get a better guide for use. Very cumbersome to add channels and does not have app availability like a Roku. It's "atmospheric" screen saver is just awful as are most of the other options. Forget surfing the internet

  I will update this review if I choose to replace rather than get a refund, fingers crossed the process isn't a nightmare and it can be resolved expeditiously.
