If I'm going to ride with my wife (she only likes rail trails and dedicated bike paths) or include a bit of asphalt for say a large climb the 2x is nice, especially with that granny gear for bigger rides too. But more often than not I'm riding trails I ride with a hard tail MTB so I'd prefer my SRAM GX eagle drivetrain in those instances.

Has anyone from a road cycling background bought a gravel bike with a 1x group set and wish they had gone with a 2x instead?
