Best Ultralight Tent of 2022 - GearLab

 You have 16 perimeter tie outs, so you have one at each of the ends down into the middle next quarter and at the end, all the way around this bad boy and then on the outside. On the body of the tarp itself, you have some additional tie out, so we have one two, three in the middle four and five and then coming over here to the inside of the tarp. You have an additional loop right here and you have another one down at the other end. That way, you could use this with a bug mesh and you could tie it up

 I want to go ahead and show you the stuff sack. Now this is cf8 Cuban fiber, and that is what this tarp is made out of now with this tarp here it does come in numerous sizes and we'll touch upon that in just a minute. But mine is the eight and a half by eight and a half. It is a square tarp, so here we go just a very quick, lean-to setup

It's manufactured with a flat-face design with wings to provide more lateral room. It also has six pole-compatible high-quality grommets around the edge. You can build using this tarp in several configurations. With easy-to-use tensioners on each grommet, you can re-tension and loosen it with ease. We also appreciate that the 15D ripstop fabric is quite durable to abrasion. Based on the design you choose to set up with, this tarp can be used easily for three seasons through any kind of weather and fits two people comfortably. 
Not as intuitive as a pole tent, it took a little time to figure out how to set it up with a set of ski poles. In abysmal weather, we appreciate that it doesn't make a whole lot of sound and is pretty stable; however, when set up in a flatter configuration where the walls aren't as steep, the fabric got saturated and stretched out. This means if a storm is going through the night, you'll need to re-tension it. It's also not recommended for snowy weather for this reason.  You can pack your shelter. Your shelter goes in this bag, camaco, ultralight and look at this view. This is morrow lake morale lake in lake george um just happened to stop by and drying all the shelter and the tarp that got soaked just drying them and then looks like gon na get in the water and can wait. Finally, the sun is out after two days of rain and hopefully hopefully we'll be fine

 This is the back. It comes with four um four of these right and then - and it has one two three six ropes and these are super sturdy, it's nice and that little bag. You can pack your shelter. Your shelter goes in this bag, camaco, ultralight and look at this view

Kammok UL Camp Kit Review

I had the privilege of getting to test out this tarp before it's release and man oh man I was giddy while setting it up for the first time. As a backpacking guide for a couple of summers I was sold on Kelty tarps to use as a lighter alternative for shelter. I am bummed that I didn't have this option that would have fit into my water bottle pocket. Also, the little feature where it locks like a taut line hitch had me swooning

 Instead of messing around with knots and ropes, you get to sit and make an extra cup of coffee before the sun goes down. All in all, I was very impressed by this ultralight tarp and am looking forward to larger versions for group hiking.

The ultralight shelter for ANYONE

As for size, our trip took us to an old abandoned car campsite (road washed out years ago). We took up both sides of a picnic table and were completely covered.

 We stayed dry while playing cards and making dinner. We also got under it the morning for breakfast and coffee and stayed dry while watching the sleet pound down around us.

Great "cooking shelter" for extended time in camp

 The way the ties tuck away so that they don't get tangled. The way the ties attach to the stakes and the way they adjust. This tarp is a solid ultralight alternative to a tent or the perfect addition to a backcountry hammock set up.
