The media could not be loaded. For starters, you should know that while I bought these boots to wear specifically for hiking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu in Peru, I am actually a professional hiker for a living and have tried ALL. THE. BOOTS

 That being said, they are looking almost as good as new after Peru and 2 months of local hiking, so I will have to update when they do start to degrade. BUT even if and when they do, I must say that at least for a big hike like the Inca trail, they were worth EVERY PENNY. In fact, even if they only last me a couple years on my local trails, I'm at an age now where the protection from the impact of hiking on my feet, knees, ankles and hips that these boots offer is worth the price, as steep as that is, even if they don't last as long as other brands and models. I've learned that with hiking boots and shoes, everything is a tradeoff, and for me, comfort is king

 Not the socks, the sock liners. The individually wrapped toes make all the difference. Layer 2 - Dr. Fredericks gel toe caps (for use on big toes OVER the sock liners) Layer 3 - A pair of Darn Tough FULL CUSHION boot socks Layer 4 - Hoka One Anacapa (or Sky Kaha) boots  I sincerely hope this review has been helpful to someone else!  Your feet will thank you! Also, that extra chunk makes them a lot more of a pain in the butt to pack, but again, WORTH IT.  So, what about the degradation of the EVA soles that I mentioned in the beginning? Well, I'm fully anticipating that will happen again with these.  But what you haven't done is got macerated skin and then leading on to blisters, which you would get wearing like normal cotton socks or something that can't wick. The moisture away can't move it away from the surface of the skin. It also lofts in the right places and compresses in the right places so that it will give you a nicer, fit and much more comfortable and, of course, the other thing it does is give you cushioning. That'S really really important, because you're not necessarily going to get that from the or enough of that from the boot, and that's why you've got padded zones within good quality socks as well

 So you can see these little mobile wings here now. This is their active support, so what it basically does is it adjusts to the volume in the shoe um and you get this sort of diagonal support through the boot itself. So when you do your laces up nice and tight, it pulls your heel right into the back of the boot and then the really snug and comfortable fit around the cuff ensures that you get as little movement as possible, which means that you don't get any blisters In the back, which is really important, so the cuff itself, then, is a little bit padded um. But as i found yesterday, it was so so comfortable

I used the Salomon size guide and it told me to get a 12 (wide), and it is too narrow. for your reference I wear 12 (4E) running shoes. other than that it is made very nicely. but it's a no for me

These fit me well. However their claim of "Cushion: regular" should be minimal/light. Foot protection as well. I'm not sure if the pursuit of weight savings have left these shoes with sever limitations or what? Even walking on tar I can feel every contour of the road through my feet

Overall, I am happy with this boot and have walked over 60KMs so far and not really needed any break-in time. This boot is lightweight, breathable and reasonably waterproof but on the flipside the ankle support is lower than my my previous Salomon boots (although is sufficient by a small margin) and they arent 100% waterproof although sufficient for hiking in the rain. Salomon have made a strong, lightweight boot but have cut down some features to save weight. I tend to hike long distances BUT without a heavy pack so dont need a heavier, burlier boot so I am happy with these tradeoffs

As lightweight, flexible and comfortable as you'll get in a legit hiking boot. I wear these for yardwork, dog walks in bad conditions, and of course on the trails. Coming from the Salomon X Ultra 3 Mid GTX (which was good, except for the stiffer/narrower toe box) I am expecting the same weather protection and ability to take a beating. The tread being the same style I imagine it will similarly wear down by the 3rd year, while maintaining excellent traction and grip while it lasts

 Definitely in the right place, i've never had any issue with the gore-tex waterproof in these boots, and i'm going to tell you guys what i use this for what i'm going to use this boot, for i have the three and the four is going to be used In the same way, and that's going to be hiking, whether it be backpacking here in colorado or on fourteeners this summer and then uh, maybe quick trips to the mountains, you know where i need that lighter boot.  It is that it is just that it is a boot. It is a high ankle. Very, very firm, no messing around you've got their 4d chassis here. You'Ve got plenty of lacing lockdown gusseted tongue on both, and it is really a boot now i'll be using this for hunting i'll, be using this for camping car camping kind of off

New Salomon QUEST 4 GTX Or Salomon X ULTRA 4 MID GTX - Which Is Better?? (2021 Updates)

 One good advice that i got from my hiking friends that you know who does the hiking on pretty much regular basis. Uh? Is that get yourself half a size bigger whenever it comes to hiking boots boots in general, and then trail running shoes that will prevent from that unnecessary fatigue? You have a little bit of extra space and uh with these boots. Yes, you do have half a size bigger. You do have a little bit of that extra space

 You know, if you have small rocks, you know sliding down and falling on your toe there. You go you have it not much here. Of course, this is very, very soft, so anything falls here. You will definitely feel that impact not gon na feel good, but you do have some padding on in the shaft pretty good to protect your ankles and, of course, your heel is reinforced as well as well as there is this design going on the bottom

 It'S very very comfortable super lightweight, excellent, excellent job salomon. However, i think it could have been better yes yeah, so i'm looking forward for x, ultra five mid gtx and i'm hoping solomon watches this review and does some corrections all right. Let'S move on to the criterion number two now, which is proofing and protection now proofing wise, like i said these do feature the fancy gore-tex waterproofing technology, which is you know if you're an outdoors enthusiast right, you you do hiking regularly, whatever you probably do, prefer gore-tex Waterproofing because it is breathable, it is lightweight and it really does work it helps. It really does provide some really really good waterproofing features

 So i do do love those, and these are like. I said these are not any worse uh, so keep that in mind now whenever it comes to the design features. Usually here i talk about the lacing system. Lacing system overall, here is pretty good
