 The inner crock is heavy, but it's the nature of the beast, as is the fact that the exterior gets hot when you are cooking. It is clumsy to wash in the sink, but the addition of cooking bags made for this size and type of cooker simplifies the cleaning enough to make it worth it. It is big, so consider where you will store it before buying. I can't stand appliances I'm not using sitting on my countertops, so that was an issue for me

 I have used several recipes that give 6-8 hour cooking times and have cut the time in half with great success. Tough cuts of meat still came out falling apart tender. I should pass on the hint that I picked up about high temps and avoiding burned food: If you put a raft of onion or celery in the bottom bag and rest the meat on it, it will give extra flavor as well as protecting meat from burning or sticking to the bag. The design of the lid could be better

 I feel using the cooking bags help with my peace of mind, as well as with cleanup. The wire clamps to secure the crock for travel seem like they would work fine, but I don't travel with food, so I have only found them a bit annoying because they don't fold completely away from the side of the crock and you cannot use them while cooking. Another model is probably the same, but without the clamps. I was just overwhelmed with all the reading I did and picked this one without considering that I might not want the clamps

I’ve had this crockpot for years and, while I love the functionality of the digital settings, I am fed up with how hot it gets/quickly it cooks. It’s not a huge issue for some dishes, but when you have a pot roast or any kind of meat you want to be tender it becomes very frustrating. I’m about to toss a roast that it cooked in 2 hours on LOW. I think I’ll toss this crockpot along with it

 The face of it is already starting to come off. The crock insert is much harder to clean than the original so they definitely changed the finish on that as well.

Cheaply Made

  Yes if you do the math this wasn’t that expensive per meal etc. but I like to buy something I can count on to work long term, even if it costs a little more.  Lots of people love this, and that’s great. I can tell you that after 4 years with mine, it definitely resembles what you expect from an opening price point brand (only, that’s not the price they are charging)

  I just can’t fathom a Hamilton Beach slow cooker for $70-80. I believe this was in the $45-50 range when I purchased four years ago and I thought that was steep, looks like all slow cookers have increased tremendously in price. At that rate I’d rather pay a little more and get kitchen aid, or maybe even bump up to a higher end brand from there. Slow cookers used to last 20 plus years- 4 years is ridiculous

 However, I did come across an awesome blog called a year of slow cooking that presented me with a bunch of easy-to-make recipes in very little time. (Since then I have found other blogs with other recipes: Get Crocked and 365 days of slow cooking for example but a year of slow cooking is still my favorite.) And that crockpot was doable but some recipes call for cooking on low for 9 hours; others for 6 and really all I want is to throw the ingredients into the crockpot and forget about it

I love this crockpot

The positive reviews and affordable cost is what prompted me to purchase this slow cooker and I felt confident with the brand name. I am extremely pleased with this slow cooker. The temperature probe is something I have never used before and after having this pot for a few months I now wonder how I managed without the probe, especially after recently cooking a nine pound pork butt in it. I slide the probe in the perfectly designed little hole in the lid, plugged it into the portal on the side of the appliance and watched the temp gauge slowly climb to the perfect temperature to ensure that the pork was properly cooked

 This wonderful slow cooker was comparably the best value for the money and sold for a lot less than other slow cookers on the market. If you are an avid slow cooker fan you will appreciate this appliance.

Outstanding Performance

One con, the pot is made of ceramic and it is quite heavy which some might find hard to bring to parties or reunions.

 I should get the measurements on how long the actual probe is. So I'm gonna grab a tape measure quick. Okay, so I took it out of the package I'm just measuring it from where the probe starts to the black base down and it looks like it's five-and-a-half inches or fourteen centimeters in length. so it looks like you're gonna have to have a pretty big piece of item, piece of food or whatever her roast or whatever to make sure that it can fit through the cover and actually probe it into the middle of the meat for the correct temperature

 So I mean obviously you can click the up/down arrows and it goes up by half-hour increments. Okay, so once you have that, you can push enter and that goes to the heat settings. This is the high setting. You can switch to low

 It's 73 degrees. so that's what the probe feature does. Once it reaches the desired temp, it's gonna go to the keep warm setting. All right

 so the presets say that you can choose the pot roast preset. It cooks on high for an hour, it switches automatically to low for eight hours and then it goes to keep warm. or I have like appetizers and dips. It does one hour on high, four hours on low, and switches to keep warm
