GT Aggressor Pro vs Specialized Stumpjumper

I bought a GT Aggressor Pro from Dicks but now after seeing how I’m liking MTB and seeing that it’s something I’m more than likely going to stick with I’d like to get something a little more trustworthy and better built. With the unfortunate shortage of bikes I see that Polygon is at least taking preorders and can ship them out within 10 days…or so the site says. I have been trying to track down a Trek as well.

* Full suspension: Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp - great condition. The guy said it's from 2007. He kept it well maintained and comes with a bleed kit.

I got a GT Aggressor Pro when I first started, still have it, its only good out of the box for very light duty and easy xc trails. I immediately changed from coil to air fork (+$200) and upgraded the awful tires (+$200) in addition to the stem/bars/grips/pedals (+$150) so I ended up paying close to a much better bike that had modern standards (hubs, axles, tapered head tube). If i could do it again I’d have went with a Polygon Xtrada 7 or nice Trek Roscoe - I’m saving up for one of those as we speak.

It sounds like the type of riding you'll be doing puts you in the full suspension category. The stumpjumper has always been a great platform.

It was my introduction to mountain biking, and was given to me as a gift on my 18th birthday. In terms of quality it’s pretty hard to complain when compared to the other bikes that are within this price range, asides from the geometry and 27.5” wheels being more than a little dated. Regardless of this, the aggressor ticks all the boxes of a beginner hardtail: disc brakes, threadless headset, and a serviceable frame

I will say however my santa cruz had it all over the evil on paint finish, and frame finishing.

Just gone mine last week, I was excited until I tried to adjust the gearing. The microshift derailleur (microshift26) is atrocious, replace it asap. My front fork adjuster (the right one) was loose and I can't adjust the spring tension (will have to replace), the front fork is basic anyway. Other than that it's a cool bike, I'm upgrading half the components in the coming weeks

The rockshox recon fork, the x-fusion rear shock, and the SX drivetrain will be limiting factors on that bike. Or, if you like the Stumpjumper, kick in another 600 and get the Stumpjumper Comp alloy for 3600.
