If you're looking for something cheaper, consider the GoPro HERO9 Black. It's the predecessor to the GoPro HERO10 Black, and while it uses an older processor and has fewer frame rate options, it still has many of the same features at a lower price point. It feels very well-built, is waterproof up to 33 feet, and has a second front-facing screen with Live View that's ideal for vlogging. It supports 5k video recording up to 30 fps, as well as 4k up to 60 fps and 1080p up to 240 fps, so you still have a wide range of frame rates to choose from to suit whatever style of video you want to shoot. Its digital stabilization feature also does a fantastic job smoothing out camera shake, though there's a noticeable crop on your footage when you enable it. Video quality also looks a tad worse in dimly-lit conditions than it does on the HERO10.

Get the HERO10 Black if you want improved low-light performance and more frame rate options. However, if you want to save a bit of money for a camera that performs very similarly overall, the HERO9 Black is a great alternative.

When it comes to vlogging, you won't find a more portable option than this, either.

Older GoPro models, like the GoPro HERO8 Black, are also available to buy if you want to save even more money. It’s ok if you absolutely need an action camera.

 This was not the camera for the job. Although the picture quality is excellent, everything else left much to be desired. The battery life is very short and if you do not have extras, your shoot will be severely put on hold. Image stabilization is there, but not as impressive as advertisements and commercials would have you believe

 It allows for easier selfie shots.  Overall I am pretty disappointed in the GoPro. If you need a camera that takes fast high quality pictures with flash and excellent transfer software DO NOT BUY GoPro. Buy a Canon or Panasonic

 So your phones memory is constantly being written to when offloading from the GoPro camera and then again by exporting from GoPro Quick app to phone which wears down the memory chip in the phone. Not to mention it also creates duplicates, one on the GoPro Quick app and one on the phone wasting space and ultimately bumping into space problems when trying to export large media from app to phone. This design is terrible and has been reported by hundreds of people for several years and GoPro has done nothing about it. This design is obviously tied to them pushing their subscription cloud service which is a poor business practice and leads to people like me placing a big fat 1 star review

 Battery life on the TomTom Bandit is around about three hours, I think that it feels like it lasted even longer. Yeah, I think it was more, yeah. I don't know, we might be wrong, but you certainly have plenty of time to capture whatever you're doing, you know, a three hour surf session is a pretty good effort. Yeah, it's enough

 This connects to the camera so you can carry it around and press record and stop. You've got your two buttons, so it's a nice and consistent approach to the functionality of the camera. If you wanted to mount the TomTom onto the front of your surfboard, then all you do is just put this carefully on your finger or somewhere safer. So I suppose compared to some of the newer GoPros and other action cameras that have an LCD preview panel on the back so you can actually see what you've been shooting, this one doesn't

 If you want slow motion, it captures that in 1080p, so that's double speed, so that's 60 frames per second and the quality is just exceptional. Everything from raindrops falling in slow motion to a time lapse of sunset to fish swimming around under the water, we hardly even messed around with the different shooting modes and there are four different scene modes. One is automatic, which we use most of the time, then there's underwater, there's night and bright. For those people who are going to want to not use a full edit suite like we do, for us we're actually using this as a professional piece of kit and it can be, the quality is good enough

 When I go to put it back the next day it is charged up and ready to go. I have yet to run out of battery out on the trails. Video editing is a breeze when you're on the go. There is definitely room for improvement in terms of size and weight, however the bullet design and longer battery life make up for it in most cases

 I picked them out, wiped the dirt off, and mounted put the TomTom on my handlebar mount for the rest of the ride. Later that day I went and purchased a new helmet with less venting so I could use the 3M 360 pitch mount on it. I won't be using the GoPro headstrap anymore, that's for sure.

The battery pack is a good example as it offers three hours of use when recording 1080p at 30fps. This does drop if features such as Wi-Fi are in use, but it's still very respectable. Power is supplied through the Batt-Stick, a unit that slots into the back of the camera.
