Gerber Flatiron vs Kershaw knockout

REVIEW: The blade feels really well balanced in your hand while opened up. The finger relief under the blade really gets the working edge close. It is very controllable and steady. Closed, the blade is bulky

Kershaw knockout m390 usamadeblade exclusive is probably the best all around knife at this price point.

When it finally disengaged I had so much force on it that the blade flipped closed unexpectedly and now I have a nice scar. Upon further inspection the pivot bolt is not very tight, but the blade has way too much resistance to open and close. This could be a really cool EDC knife but for a cheap Gerber, I'll leave it alone and run my Spyderco, Kizer or even my Civivi.

The combination of poor product design and the expensive price tag (compared to other Kershaw knives) gave me no choice but to give this knife a single star. I'm extremely disappointed with the product and has not been the case with any of my other Kershaw blades.

The three-inch cleaver style blade is very sturdy; ideal style to shave kindling and small bits of wood for fire-starting. Dimension-wise, the pocketknife is 4.75 inches long when closed. Opened, it's 8

'merica! UPDATE: I've had this knife over a year now, it has never been taken apart and cleaned, and its used daily in an industrial environment. All I've done is blown it out with composed air a couple times. It still opens flawlessly. The only place the finish has come off are at the hard corners, but they are scratched off, so the finish is very durable

As a retired military guy and avid camper, I have owned and used various folding blade style knives. This knife caught my attention as a more utilitarian type blade for heavy cutting of rope, heavy twine, cardboard, etc. Though it is labeled as a Cleaver blade, I found it to be a bit to light to effectively be used as a chopper for wood or food products. The blade material is certainly not of the high premium grade that you might get with S30v or others, but this knife does not carry the premium price. This steel is more than adequate. It will take a razor sharp edge and hold it okay. The difference can really show with how long the working edge lasts

The micarta part of the handle feels very cheap and not lined up well around edges. There is a gap between the micarta and metal where it meets handle like it’s not attached well. When I opened knife, it had someone else’s arm hair and skin cells on the blade like someone had attempted to shave their arm with it. Blade has several inclusions in the finish which I believe will make it fail eventually

The clash is heavier, thicker, and not so sharp, but it has really solid lock up and it's blade deployment is awesome...shawak! One thing the Clash does have over the Knock Out, is a textured handle, and they at least tried to put a little jimping on the back of the blade for thumb grip because there isn't much of a thumb ramp for grip either
