Hello, everybody. This is old soldier today, i'm going to do a product review on the gerber, applegate fairburne automatic, mini covert automatic knife, otherwise known as the switchblade uh. This caught my eye at the local outdoor shop. I'Ve always been a fan of gerber products

GERBER APPLEGATE-FAIRBURN MINI COVERT AUTOMATIC: SEXY LITTLE KNIFE

 This one only has a thumb screw for opening and the locking mechanism works but no where near as smooth as you would expect. The abs plastic handle scales are bulky and doesn't grip well. I am a Gerber fan and I will make some mods to this knife to make it more comfortable for me but wouldn't buy it again.

 So one thing about this: actually there's going to be about three things about this: they hit the mark so good on this, but they missed it so far, let's get into those reasons. Okay, so, first off, like I said this does come straight out of the box: take starina sharp! So, on the plus side it does come out very sharp and with the s30v blade it is a very nice steel, easy to keep sharp and it stays sharp for a long time. If I can get this light to shimmer on here, just for a little bit, you can see exactly where Gerber really dropped the ball. On this blade, can you see the how deep of a edge that is right there, and if we come over here to the other side, you can see how shallow of an edge that is right there

 What'S going on everybody welcome back as episode 2 Zeke for outdoors, I am usually late when it comes to jumping on the bandwagon of things. Today, we're going to be looking at the gerber mini covert, auto in coyote brown, with a plain edge on it. I really do like this knife. It'S pretty quick to deploy it's very easy to carry

 If I can get this light to shimmer on here, just for a little bit, you can see exactly where Gerber really dropped the ball. On this blade, can you see the how deep of a edge that is right there, and if we come over here to the other side, you can see how shallow of an edge that is right there. I wish. I could mike that to tell you exactly how deep each side of these edges are, but they really did miss the point

 Okay in the center could be a little bit better, but you know just one of the things they missed on when we're. When we're talking a hundred and forty dollars there shouldn't be any problems. There shouldn't be any bad things to say about knives when you're coming in at a price point around 140 dollars, like the benchmade mini grip right here. I don't have any complaints about this one here at all, except for I wish I did not get a serrated blade, so another thing that they really missed on on this particular knife is the safety

Gerber Mini Covert Fast Assisted Opening EDC Knife | Table Top Review

 The spring is very noisy and sounds like it’s rusty or needs some lube both opening and closing. On a positive note good size for the pocket and good on the safety in order to open and close. Overall in my opinion the knife isn’t worth $30 let alone $20.

Expected more from Gerber.

- The blade steel typical from Gerber can take a brutal edge. Which makes for a great little stabby-bits blade; But does not fair as well holding the edge. It’s a better tactical weapon than a multi-use EDC. But only if it were bigger

I own a LOT of knives. Gerber is a hit-or-miss maker for me. I typically either love or hate their knives. This is a rare one for me, as a Gerber knife left me with mixed feelings

 The blade is a perfect size for me and if you are worried about losing your knife if a cop searches you (because I was) the compact size is a must. Overall I think that this knife has been an excellant purchase and I am very happy with it all around.

 This knife is very light and compact. The spring assist takes a little getting used to but after messing around with this knife for a few days I felt completely comfortable with it. The blade is a perfect size for me and if you are worried about losing your knife if a cop searches you (because I was) the compact size is a must. Overall I think that this knife has been an excellant purchase and I am very happy with it all around

 There got that black wash blade big sweeping swedge on it nice belly, and that is a CPM 154 steel as the American flag. It is made in the USA a nice comfortable feel in the hand very ergonomic plenty to grip on to definitely be able to do some work with that knife.  I think, before an overall length of eight inches on the whole knife, it's actually a really thin. I have to be honest and it's for the size of the blade size of the knife being paint inches long. It'S a relatively lightweight knife. It'S something that's easy to carry in your pocket, everyday

So there's you got a little wiggle room to eat it from place like that anyway, but you actually, you may be able to find some other website that will ship it to you, but cursor all themselves will not ship it to you, because there are some things Around the blade and around the automatic feature of the knife that some states have an issue with, I'm also going to show you this other website that I found you scroll up here

So this is the Kershaw launched one on Kershaw's website. If you read right here, says due to many of the varied federal and state laws that govern the purchase, owning and transportation as the automatic knives Kershaw automatics will be sold only through authorized Kershaw dealers

 So I mean what does that mean? Basically, I wouldn't take the clip off of it. I would carry it with the clip with it clipped in my pocket that way. Anybody that sees it in your pocket knows that it's a knife. I mean I live in the south, so if somebody sees the clip you know hang out in my pocket
