Gateron Brown vs NovelKeys Cream

Just ordered one with Gateron Brown switches. I wanted hot-swappable but for practicality, I won’t be switching out switches ever.

I really dont mind the wait for shipping but there is some things to note. They are really scratchy and terriable stock. I thought I had recieved fake creams at first but I'm happy I was wrong. After lubing the feel of the switch comes out and really is amazing

Perhaps unsurprisingly, both Cherry MX and Gateron browns came out at the bottom of the ranking by this measure. On top of that, some experiments I did with swapping in more tactile stems confirm that the brown switches also have relatively weak tactile leaf springs.

Used these for about a week with a GMMK Pro and just could not get over the scratchiness of them. I'm by no means a keyboard snob, nor am I really particular about sound, but you can physically feel the stem grind on the housing while using them. While they do feel very soft to type on and have a distinct "clacky" sound that some will love, I ultimately returned them. Perhaps after they are broken in properly (which could take months in some use cases) and after proper lubrication this could be a great switch, but with other better stock switches available its a pass for me
