 That reference line starts here with the RT82 at $300 and goes all the way up to the RT85, which comes in at $500. And really the main difference between the RT82 and the RT85 and the RT83 and 84, the connections in between, are some different materials, and then also the cartridge. This one, the RT82, comes with an aluminum platter, whereas the RT85 would have an acrylic one. And then the other main difference is the cartridge

 But I don't think that vinyl and analog purists will mind the manual nature of the RT82 or other reference turntables. Another great feature built into the RT82 and the other reference line turntables that I briefly mentioned earlier are the adjustable feet underneath. These reference turntables have three adjustable rubber vibration isolating feet down here so that you can get the turntable to absolute level to get the best playback from your turntable. So once you have everything set up and you have it going through a preamp and into your speakers or receiver or headphones, how does it sound? Incredibly pure

It’s definitely not overkill (it’s an entry level turntable) but I don’t think it’s the best you can do for the money. Also that Best Buy exclusive color is a crime against humanity.

I grabbed a Pro-Ject Essential III for $300 on Amazon. I was trying to decide between a U-Turn, Fluance RT82, & the E3. The biggest reason I got the E3 was it was available immediately. I LOVE it. I upgraded from the AT LP60, which I liked, but am super excited with the E3. Good luck with your decision.

Would y’all consider this a decent tt for someone new to all this or is it overkill for a beginner? Decided to just get my own tt

 And what I've done is I've taken out the preamp in there. Some people have said that the preamp isn't very good, so I've taken it out and I'm using an external preamp. Hopefully, this is a step up from that. Fluance has come out with a new line of turntables and there's a few variations

 My favorite is the OM Pro S, and it has great bass and amazing sound quality (the other two are great too). I bought the RT 82 as an upgrade for my vintage Technics SL 235, and I thought the OM 10 cartridge was a win-win for me. It has a cool design and looks. However, I am disappointed with the T 82 sound and the OM cartridge (probably I got a crappy one)

The Fluance RT 82 came with the OM 10 cartridge, which I was looking for too. I own a couple of cartridges; Ortofon Concorde MK2, OM Pro S, and Audio-Technica AT-VM95E. My favorite is the OM Pro S, and it has great bass and amazing sound quality (the other two are great too). I bought the RT 82 as an upgrade for my vintage Technics SL 235, and I thought the OM 10 cartridge was a win-win for me

 The sound quality of the bass is not match to my SL 235. I switched cartridges (and switched the pre-amps and used different pre-amps), and the sound quality of the RT 82 improved, but the sound of my SL 235 was still better. You will get a good sound with the RT-82 if you get a decent cartridge (OM Pro S, MK3, or better), and I still recommend the RT 82 if you need a good turntable.

 You can move it all the way up to the number six, it will play the same record continuously six times, and once it comes to the zero it will shut off, or you do have your R or your repeat function, and it will continue to play continuously. Size selector switch, 12 inch for your long plays, what it should set up right now. You have your 10-inch and you also do your little 45 7-inch records. Just by moving that over it will, the tone arm will automatically drop in the correct position

 And also too, if I do hit the stop right now as you could see it's over to the zero, so what it will do will drop on its rest, and the turntable shuts off. And what we're going to do is this does also have the auto return feature, and I'm just going to show you that that is working correctly. And just also too, while that is coming to the end of the record, actually I'm going to go back here first and show your settings for the new owner. As you can see, I have your counterweight set to two, and I also have your anti-skate set to two

 A little bit of minor marking here and there, nothing major. Overall very nice, and also too your top portion is also very clean, and what I'm going to do is just take a quick break, grab a record, and quick give you a quick demo. Alrighty and we're back, and it's a fully automatic turntable so all you need to do is just hit the start stop switch right here. As you can see when I do that the tonearm picks up and also to your strobe illuminates, moves over to the correct spot on the record

 The record that I'm going to be playing here is the National Association of Broadcasters test record, which is something they would have had in a radio studio. I'm hearing sound from the speakers, wow, what do you think of that test in there folks? It's not too pleasant to listen to but what it's telling me is that this turntable is playing back through both channels without any hum, just the way it should be. Even with that damaged wire that I had to do emergency surgery on to get it to work, it sounds awesome. So the goal here is not to get a copyright strike on this particular video or a copyright claim

 One of them is $400 and the other one is $455 and some change so I spent way less than half of that on this unit. Will it pay off? Let's find out. I just set the tracking force and the anti-skate. I don't have it hooked up to an amp just yet but from what I can see it is tracking across this record just wonderfully. So let's go find out what we got folks

Technics SL-D3 Turntable Maintenance, Repair and Setup

 It's going to play to demonstrate that the turntable functions appropriately with that size record. This turntable does include the OEM Techniques 45 rpm puck adapter. We're going to start again on the 45 rpm speed so we just have to switch to the 7 inch size. I'll let this one play through to the end to demonstrate the auto return again

 A 7 inch for your 45s, 10 inch for 10 inch records and a 12 inch for your normal 12 inch LPs. And then of course your start stop switch. Okay so we can get right into it. I'll play some records to demonstrate that everything is fully functional

 So back to rest. And the turntable shuts off. And when you're all the way over on the R for the repeat that was the kind of infinite repeat I was mentioning. So just drop us at the end here

 Now bring us back to 33 rpm. Okay that's looking close enough anyway. Okay I'll demonstrate this memo repeat. So let's just go to say four

 At least the cartridge did and I pulled the cartridge and looking at the bottom and I see no needle at all coming out of that stylus there. Looks like a new stylus is required and it had some weird wear patterns on the stylus holder itself so I think it was kind of run off of the you know like this. I know it was kind of off the record and she kind of ran there and ground it down. So I believe that's an Audio-Technica

 Continue cleaning this thing up and make it look brand new again. I tried playing a record and it just skipped right across the record.  We'll get that mounted and get this thing playing again. I just got the new cartridge for this turntable and a snap to get it installed and aligned. I just used a couple of my Paper Pro Crackers here to get the alignment done. And I got the Stylus tracking force set at 2 grams which is 2

 So let me pull that off of the head shell see if I can figure out what model that is and see if we can find a stylus for it. I got that turntable unmounted and remounted again. It turns out it's a Audio-Technica Pro 13E cartridge. I'm sure the original one from what the turntable was new
