 That reference line starts here with the RT82 at $300 and goes all the way up to the RT85, which comes in at $500. And really the main difference between the RT82 and the RT85 and the RT83 and 84, the connections in between, are some different materials, and then also the cartridge. This one, the RT82, comes with an aluminum platter, whereas the RT85 would have an acrylic one. And then the other main difference is the cartridge

 But I don't think that vinyl and analog purists will mind the manual nature of the RT82 or other reference turntables. Another great feature built into the RT82 and the other reference line turntables that I briefly mentioned earlier are the adjustable feet underneath. These reference turntables have three adjustable rubber vibration isolating feet down here so that you can get the turntable to absolute level to get the best playback from your turntable. So once you have everything set up and you have it going through a preamp and into your speakers or receiver or headphones, how does it sound? Incredibly pure

Fluance RT82 Reference Turntable Review - YouTube

It’s definitely not overkill (it’s an entry level turntable) but I don’t think it’s the best you can do for the money. Also that Best Buy exclusive color is a crime against humanity.

I grabbed a Pro-Ject Essential III for $300 on Amazon. I was trying to decide between a U-Turn, Fluance RT82, & the E3. The biggest reason I got the E3 was it was available immediately. I LOVE it. I upgraded from the AT LP60, which I liked, but am super excited with the E3. Good luck with your decision.

Would y’all consider this a decent tt for someone new to all this or is it overkill for a beginner? Decided to just get my own tt

Fluance RT82 Turntable Unboxing & Setup - YouTube

 My favorite is the OM Pro S, and it has great bass and amazing sound quality (the other two are great too). I bought the RT 82 as an upgrade for my vintage Technics SL 235, and I thought the OM 10 cartridge was a win-win for me. It has a cool design and looks. However, I am disappointed with the T 82 sound and the OM cartridge (probably I got a crappy one)

The Fluance RT 82 came with the OM 10 cartridge, which I was looking for too. I own a couple of cartridges; Ortofon Concorde MK2, OM Pro S, and Audio-Technica AT-VM95E. My favorite is the OM Pro S, and it has great bass and amazing sound quality (the other two are great too). I bought the RT 82 as an upgrade for my vintage Technics SL 235, and I thought the OM 10 cartridge was a win-win for me

 The sound quality of the bass is not match to my SL 235. I switched cartridges (and switched the pre-amps and used different pre-amps), and the sound quality of the RT 82 improved, but the sound of my SL 235 was still better. You will get a good sound with the RT-82 if you get a decent cartridge (OM Pro S, MK3, or better), and I still recommend the RT 82 if you need a good turntable.

 Hey guys, welcome back to Turntable Guy. On the bench today we've got a bit of a sad looking SLD202. This was the replacement for the SLD2. I believe there was a Q202 as well and there may have been a 303, which is full automatic

 Good, not going to touch that grease either, not a whole lot to do on these ones, if they're working, they're usually working well, you don't really see too many issues with these tables. They're workhorses, just like the D2 was, this is very, very heavy, let's see what's going on with these feet here, they're just the cheap style where they press fit through like this, so maybe they're just starting to get a little bit flimsy with age, it looks like the back ones are a little bit taller than the front ones, we won't put the screws back in for now, I'm just going to flip it over and do bearing service on it. I like to use Singer, I'll show you the oil, you can get it all over the place, I just picked this stuff up from eBay, actually this one came from like I think Thailand, that's why there's this writing on here, I think it came from Thailand anyway, so Singer for mechanics, electronics, heavy instruments, sewing machines, bicycles, hand tools, home appliances, joints and hinges, it's great for techniques, I like it because it's lightweight, the Techniques oil is a 10 weight, which is exactly what this stuff is, just put a couple drops right at the top of the bearing here, and that will work its way down, and that's all the lubrication you need on these, same for your SL 1200, any of the 1300, 1400, 1500, all that series, D series, Q series, you just lubricate your direct drive techniques right there at the bottom of the spindle bearing, okay, right there, boom, done, okay, let's see how our speed is now, queuing's nice, drops nice and slow, which is great, power on, and let's see, oh much better already, oh that's great, see, nice and stable now, just a little bit of contact cleaner, 45, so a 45 could use a little bit of an adjustment right, so you can do that on the motor board, we'll probably do that off camera, it's just a matter of going in and hitting those pots right on the motor board, that way when you're switching between 33 and 45, you don't have to constantly play with your pitch adjustment, so it's set, 33's dead on right there, close the dead on, it's nice and stable though, so when you hit 45, you want 45 to be stable too, in this case it's a little fast, so you're going to have to hit the pitch control just a little bit, but that's what those two fine adjustment trim pots are on the motor board, okay, that's great, very simple to service these ones guys, you really don't have a lot to do, if you've got one of these tables, you're lucky, there's so little to do, and as far as the stylus is concerned, we've got here for cartridge Shure, this is one of those Encore cartridges, so this is called an ME95ED, these were made in Mexico at the Shure factory there, this is crooked, so I'm going to readjust that, our alignment on our techniques is 52mm from the tip of the diamond to the gasket on the head shell, and we are at 52, excellent, this might be the original cartridge, let's clean the stylus, I always use a little bit out of alcohol, 70% isopropyl, because I don't know where the stylus has been, so I do like to clean off the garbage that's on there, this one is particularly dirty, it's either dirty or broken, I'm going to have a peek at it with my magnifying glass here, oh it's broken, yeah we got a bum needle, it's bent downwards, so it needs a new stylus, so much for cleaning it, I do want to hear what it sounds like though, make sure we can do an audio test, I'll just use one of my, I keep a spare head shell here with a cartridge that I know is good, and let's just quickly balance this up here, it's a Shure M91ED on our techniques head shell, old style, ok arms balanced, set her back, set your weight to zero, and this cartridge is I believe 1.5 grams, so right there, an anti-scape, 1

sound, we'll just check basic operation here, and there's no platter on this right, so there could be some vibration and noise transmitted to the needle, I just don't want to put even one of my crappy platter mats on there, it's too gross, ok, I can't play that for too long, let's see, I do like to check the auto return, because sometimes it does go back a little too soon, let me just try that again, if you rush it, sometimes it won't go, but if you leave it playing on the record, see, I gotta do that off screen because I can't leave it for more than 8 seconds or I'll get a copyright strike, it's supposed to be on an album like this, but it sounds good, runs good, and like I said, there's very little disservice on these things, so if you have a D202, congratulations, you get a great turntable, and it's a good sounding table too, yeah it's good to have one of these, it's just a piece of plastic being put over, it's just good for testing and stuff, so anyway guys, that's a fast one, I haven't had a lot of turntables come in, we had a death in the family, so I haven't been bringing in a lot of tables recently, but going back to servicing a little bit more here, and I hope to get some more interesting turntables, I do get a lot of Technics, that's because Technics sold a ton of turntables back in the day, so you're gonna get a lot of these coming back for service, right, so I hope that doesn't bore you too much, but there are some slight differences between models, and it's always good to document it as far as the service is concerned, so that's the SLD202, Technics SL-D202: Basic Servicing

5 on here and also too your anti-skate is set to 0. That's giving that cartridge a really nice sound and I did put a nice short cartridge on there. It's an M73 PED. It's got a brand new aftermarket stylus and the needles in great shape so you don't have to worry about that and as you can see at the end of the record it did pick up correctly, return to its cradle and drop and the turntable shuts off

 Also too if you do need to adjust your pitch it's right here. I did clean the pots on that and it is steady at 33 and also at 45 rpms and we're just going to show you that the stop or the reject button is working correctly. If I just press that as you can see the tonearm picks up returns fully to its cradle and drops and the turntable shuts off and this is also a semi-automatic turntable and what that means is it will auto return at the end of the record and just while that's coming to the end of the record I'm just going to go over a couple of the adjustments for the new owner. I do have your counterweight set to 0

 I'm just going to take a quick break, grab a record, and give you a quick demo. All righty and we're back and you have your power button right here. Once you hit that you can see that the strobe illuminates and also too you have your manual queuing lift. Once I hit that as you can see the tonearm picks up

 There's the light, light's on, 33, alright, now this is the test also for cueing it back up, automatic, and then putting itself in the armature there, and then going back down into the armature, there we go, sorry, there it goes, boom, so it went right down, right down slowly, and then the record will stop, I don't like putting my finger here, a lot of people do, just to stop the turntable, but you shouldn't touch it, you should just let it stop itself, so there again, even though it says automatic, you have to put a cue up, ok, and then go over, record will go on, and then let's go towards the end, now I'm going to cue it down, there it goes down slow, now we'll wait here and watch it, because I think I missed it last time, and this should go automatic back to the armature, to the resting place, here it goes, right now, up, goes back nice, and then I'll go down into there, give it a second, boom, smack, right there, see that, and then the record will stop, now I have one more test, so let's go cue up, and that will bring the armature up, and then I'm going to bring it over, ok, now I don't have it down now, so I'm going to bring it down, it goes down real slow, now here's another one if I want to stop during the record, this is the stop button, so I'm going to push this stop, and then the armature will go up, ready, here we go, push, I stopped it, there it goes up, should cue back over, and it should set itself into cradle, right, there you go, boom, right there, so it stops the record, so there you go, everything works, everything's set, again I don't have my speaker set up, so sorry about that, but again this is just for those couple tests that I just showed everybody how to do it, so you don't want to force this over too, like you don't want to pick it up and force it, you always want to use the cue, so this is the cue down, and that's the cue up, so you can actually just use that, you know, if you want to cue back up, you don't sit there and go over down with your finger and push it down and up, you'll break it, so now I'm going to turn the power off, turns the light off right there, shut the dust cover, it's a great unit, it's a Technics system, turntable system SLD202, and again I have the original box and original packing material, which is in great shape, so yeah, we get a hold on one of these, you know, they're great to have, I know they're coming back, a lot of the young generation now are going back to records, they just love records, so I had a Technics receiver, I have another one downstairs, but I mean my original Technics was back in the 80s, I got it on my 18th birthday, I'm now 50 some years old, but I don't have the original one anymore, you can still get them, but they're like anywhere from 60 to 150 bucks depending on where you get them, so there you go.

Technics Automatic SL-D202 Direct Drive Turntable Awesome

 Thanks for looking. Here is this Technics SLD202. This is a direct drive semi-automatic turntable and this video is just to give you a quick demo and also to to show you the cosmetic condition of the item. I just installed the brand new dust cover

 Once that I do that you can see that your light for your speed selector illuminates. Right now it's set up for the 33 and also to your strobe illuminates for you. We're just going to hit the manual cueing lift. That brings the tone arm up, move it right over to the record and also to a nice smooth slow drop and also to this turntable has been completely serviced

 You could see just a tiny tiny little bit on that edge and this edge is also very nice. Overall in very nice condition and also too your top portion is also very clean and you do have your original 45 Technics adapter right there in the back that you can see. You just have just a little bit of marking right here, looks like from the old dust cover. I'm just going to take a quick break, grab a record and give you a quick demo

 We're just going to hit the manual cueing lift. That brings the tone arm up, move it right over to the record and also to a nice smooth slow drop and also to this turntable has been completely serviced. It is 100% plug-and-play ready. All your inside mechanics have been re-lubricated and or adjusted so everything is working correct
