And really the main difference between the RT82 and the RT85 and the RT83 and 84, the connections in between, are some different materials, and then also the cartridge. This one, the RT82, comes with an aluminum platter, whereas the RT85 would have an acrylic one. And then the other main difference is the cartridge

 But I don't think that vinyl and analog purists will mind the manual nature of the RT82 or other reference turntables. Another great feature built into the RT82 and the other reference line turntables that I briefly mentioned earlier are the adjustable feet underneath. These reference turntables have three adjustable rubber vibration isolating feet down here so that you can get the turntable to absolute level to get the best playback from your turntable. So once you have everything set up and you have it going through a preamp and into your speakers or receiver or headphones, how does it sound? Incredibly pure

It’s definitely not overkill (it’s an entry level turntable) but I don’t think it’s the best you can do for the money. Also that Best Buy exclusive color is a crime against humanity.

I grabbed a Pro-Ject Essential III for $300 on Amazon. I was trying to decide between a U-Turn, Fluance RT82, & the E3. The biggest reason I got the E3 was it was available immediately. I LOVE it. I upgraded from the AT LP60, which I liked, but am super excited with the E3. Good luck with your decision.

Would y’all consider this a decent tt for someone new to all this or is it overkill for a beginner? Decided to just get my own tt

 My favorite is the OM Pro S, and it has great bass and amazing sound quality (the other two are great too). I bought the RT 82 as an upgrade for my vintage Technics SL 235, and I thought the OM 10 cartridge was a win-win for me. It has a cool design and looks. However, I am disappointed with the T 82 sound and the OM cartridge (probably I got a crappy one)

The Fluance RT 82 came with the OM 10 cartridge, which I was looking for too. I own a couple of cartridges; Ortofon Concorde MK2, OM Pro S, and Audio-Technica AT-VM95E. My favorite is the OM Pro S, and it has great bass and amazing sound quality (the other two are great too). I bought the RT 82 as an upgrade for my vintage Technics SL 235, and I thought the OM 10 cartridge was a win-win for me

 The sound quality of the bass is not match to my SL 235. I switched cartridges (and switched the pre-amps and used different pre-amps), and the sound quality of the RT 82 improved, but the sound of my SL 235 was still better. You will get a good sound with the RT-82 if you get a decent cartridge (OM Pro S, MK3, or better), and I still recommend the RT 82 if you need a good turntable.

 I knew I liked it But I had no idea how iconic and how incredible a machine it really was to say To say the least I don't think I appreciated it as much as I should have at the time So when it came time to move when it came time to to sell it a I didn't really know what I had So I sold it relatively cheap And be I was never able to get another one I was never able to get another one and so every subsequent turntable that I bought had to live up to this memory that I had of the 1200 and Suffice to say there were always some great turntables in my system turntables that I love to this day But something was always just kind of missing like I missed that ease of use The reliability the just the no fuss factor that the 1200 brought me So obviously when the opportunity came to review the new Technics SL-1500C I jumped on it and I jumped on it because a I was really curious about it But be I wanted to relive that time and place and hopefully recapture that sound that I love dearly That is my history with the 1200 now the 1500C is a decidedly upgraded updated piece of kit and that it it looks like a descendant of the 1200 but it looks like it belongs in a living room or Den or proper two-channel audio file system. That is to say that it lacks things like pitch controls LED lights speed Speed indicators and things like that. No instead you have your choice of silver or black Finish my review unit was the iconic silver and black two-tone finish Which I absolutely love and would strongly recommend that if you're considering this table This is the one you're going to want if for nothing else the resale value alone will likely be higher But you get your start stop your on off button and your speed select you have that iconic S-shape tonearm the DJ style head shell is still there and it comes pre-configured with an Ortofon 2M red Cartridge that same wonderful direct-drive motor is present here in the 1500C and I got to tell you everything that I loved about my 1200 is present and accounted for with the 1500C just a little bit more refined and That is to say that setup was easy There is a lot of this a lot of the 1500C setup is handled at the factory meaning that once you kind of unbox it assemble it follow a few Simple steps that are easy enough to follow for even a beginner even a first timer This is not a turntable. You have to be afraid of Once you follow the few steps to get up and running you can be listening to records via the 1500C in under 20 minutes and that's that that is a very very good thing because one of the things one of the biggest benefits about a direct-drive turntable and the Technics turntable lineage on a whole is just the utility robustness and Convenience of it and the 1500C while looking much more an audiophile piece of kit has that usability Still intact and I absolutely am grateful for it

 Another thing that I think really helps the 1500C be the usability Utilitarian king that it is is the fact that it includes a Very very good built-in phono stage now. Okay, you know if i'm nitpicking here What what don't I like about it or what do I think people are going to have an issue with or take issue with? I think people might take issue with the look I happen to think it's cool But i'm also partial to the look of it because I had a 1200 way back in the day And so seeing the 1500 c in my system brought back a lot of memories But it's just really cool and it's got a vintage flair if you're one that's into hardwoods If you're one that's into esoteric or exotic finishes Well, the 1500 c doesn't have that and it's never going to have that nor is it ever going to have a carbon fiber arm or Anything that doesn't look like a dj table So if that aesthetic isn't your bag then yeah You're going to probably skip right over the 1500 c because it's not going to look Cool or audiophile enough But outside of that, I really can't fault its performance. I can't fault it because For me in personally for me. I really dig the sound of it

I like it I can live with that little bit less bass at the absolute extremes and I can live with that little bit rolled off Maybe dry or high frequency at the extremes because I love everything else that it does Between those two points I find to be so Good and fun and infectious and I just love how easy it is to use Approach and just deal with every single day I mean, it's just it's just the easiest turntable to live with and when something is easy to live with easy to use You're more apt To use it and enjoy it And that in my opinion is how you get your money's worth for investing a little bit more in a product like the sl 1500 c So that's it. SL-1200 Record Player FOR LESS! TECHNICS SL-1500C Turntable Review

 I was also running the Vista Audio Contour 21. I wanted to see how it improved the performance of the less than stellar OC9XEB. While it really takes a good phono preamp and cartridge to make a turntable work great, this combination really worked out well. I will say this, the bearing in the tonearm is so silky smooth

 It wasn't the cleanest sound but it was good. Perhaps the Denon VL12 Prime was a little better at damping but oh well. So I moved on to the non analytical tap test. The tonearm provided with no microphone at all, thank goodness

 I can't say this enough, the fit and finish of this turntable is 11 out of 10 compared to most turntables that may have a 5. This is probably the best tonearm that I've ever used. The buttons and tactile feedback are so smooth. As with any turntable, the platter is up to speed almost immediately

 Throughout my listening I listened to mostly rock albums, the newly released Ice Nine Kills, to Creed's Greatest Hits. All were flawless or nearly flawless on this turntable. There are a few key reasons to buy a Technics turntable. They look amazing and the touch is great

Technics Sl 1500C - Legendary

The SL-1500C is a huge upgrade over your LP120X. I wouldn’t get hung up on the fact that it comes with a 2M Red. You can easy put a better cartridge on it, and even you VM95E will sound better on that compared to your LP120X because the tonearm is way better and vibrations and feedback will be better controlled. I can agree with the comments suggesting that you upgrade speakers first, but if you have the cash on hand for this turntable now, and aren’t sure when that will happen again, go for it if you can

 You can easy put a better cartridge on it, and even you VM95E will sound better on that compared to your LP120X because the tonearm is way better and vibrations and feedback will be better controlled. Technic S1500c

If you want an upgrade, spend a couple hundred on a new cartridge. If you want another upgrade after that step up a couple rungs to a Rega P3 or SL-1500c. The Evo is nice, don’t get me wrong, but it’s just not that much of a step up from the U-turn. Budget to entry level doesn’t make much sense in audio, gotta make a bigger jump or focus on cartridge
