 But I don't think that vinyl and analog purists will mind the manual nature of the RT82 or other reference turntables. Another great feature built into the RT82 and the other reference line turntables that I briefly mentioned earlier are the adjustable feet underneath. These reference turntables have three adjustable rubber vibration isolating feet down here so that you can get the turntable to absolute level to get the best playback from your turntable. So once you have everything set up and you have it going through a preamp and into your speakers or receiver or headphones, how does it sound? Incredibly pure

It’s definitely not overkill (it’s an entry level turntable) but I don’t think it’s the best you can do for the money. Also that Best Buy exclusive color is a crime against humanity.

I grabbed a Pro-Ject Essential III for $300 on Amazon. I was trying to decide between a U-Turn, Fluance RT82, & the E3. The biggest reason I got the E3 was it was available immediately. I LOVE it. I upgraded from the AT LP60, which I liked, but am super excited with the E3. Good luck with your decision.

Would y’all consider this a decent tt for someone new to all this or is it overkill for a beginner? Decided to just get my own tt

 My favorite is the OM Pro S, and it has great bass and amazing sound quality (the other two are great too). I bought the RT 82 as an upgrade for my vintage Technics SL 235, and I thought the OM 10 cartridge was a win-win for me. It has a cool design and looks. However, I am disappointed with the T 82 sound and the OM cartridge (probably I got a crappy one)

The Fluance RT 82 came with the OM 10 cartridge, which I was looking for too. I own a couple of cartridges; Ortofon Concorde MK2, OM Pro S, and Audio-Technica AT-VM95E. My favorite is the OM Pro S, and it has great bass and amazing sound quality (the other two are great too). I bought the RT 82 as an upgrade for my vintage Technics SL 235, and I thought the OM 10 cartridge was a win-win for me

 The sound quality of the bass is not match to my SL 235. I switched cartridges (and switched the pre-amps and used different pre-amps), and the sound quality of the RT 82 improved, but the sound of my SL 235 was still better. You will get a good sound with the RT-82 if you get a decent cartridge (OM Pro S, MK3, or better), and I still recommend the RT 82 if you need a good turntable.

 In October of 1972, a Japanese firm that goes by the name of Panasonic today released a mid-range turntable with direct drive technology. This turntable would go on to change absolutely everything and pave the way for a new era of DJs. Of course, I'm talking about the Technics SL1200. Hi guys, welcome back to Crossfader, my name is DJ Holland and today on Trial and Tested we're taking a look back at the most important piece of DJ hardware there has ever been, the Technics SL1200 series

 The other thing to check on these decks is the RCA cable and the earth lead. Now the Mark 7 has removable and replaceable RCA cables and earth lead but the originals do not and these do wear over time so make sure you've got a good strong connection from these. If not again you can go get these serviced or changed out. There's a lot of companies now that make modifications to these decks to enable replaceable cables to be fitted however these can sometimes have a detrimental effect on the audio quality so it's completely up to you what matters to you more

 But be wary of decks that have already had the conversion done and if they have had a conversion done do ask who did it and what parts we used. Another popular mod is the internal grounding. Again this can really have a negative effect on the sound quality so make sure you do your homework before purchasing a set of decks that have had modifications done to them. A good indication of a deck that's previously been serviced or repaired is screws on the bottom base plate

 You see, back in the day when they were belt driven turntables, these were better for acoustic purposes, but it meant that the rubber band that drove the turntable platter would take a long time to get it up to speed. So any input a DJ would make on the platter itself, maybe scrubbing it to slow it down or twisting the spindle to speed the platter up, that action would take a while to correspond and that would engage a lot of wow and a lot of flutter. Now, back in the days of playing vinyl, when you sped up a record or slowed it down, the pitch would change because this playback speed was changing, there was no such thing as master tempo or pitch lock as we know it in the modern day. So a turntable that could keep its speed and get back up to speed very quickly when you make adjustments was vital for making sure the audio quality remained high throughout the playback and the performance

The history of the Technics SL1200 - Tried & Tested

 Let's the cartridge speak for itself. IMO, A-T and Denon cart.s are the ones to use with this.  One star taken off since if it had auto-return and maybe a straight tonearm it would be perfection

Excellent for the price

Look up the model number and maker whenever you are browsing and don’t trust eBay for prices (they always want the most money). Quality tables are going to hold their value, such as the Technics SL-1200. You aren’t going to walk into a thrift store and buy it off the shelf for a $1 or less (and everyone on here that says they got one relatively recent for a ridiculously low price like that are *lying to you* for karma points).

If I’m looking to spend around 250 on a turntable what we be a good beginner option? I saw that people don’t really like the lp60x

 I informed the seller but then due to the low price I ordered a new needle through Amazon for 13$ and it worked perfectly. I'm satisfied of this product!

The turntable came in well packed. No external damages or scratches. The whole equipment looked like new. The only problem was that the arm holding the cartridge was not properly secured and the needle got damaged during the transportation

Technics Turntable

 All the other Technics products were substandard IMO, but this was the turntable to have for listening. Never had one problem, never, nothing. Other turntables/cartridges were better for DJ'ing and cueing up, but this setup was all I ever (and still) wanted.

I bought this turntable too many years ago to even remember, with a Shure V15 MR cartridge ($400 for the turntable, $125 for the cartridge), and never regretted it a single day in all that time. Accurate speed, no need to mess with belts, ability to speed up/slow down when needed, instant check of speed and flutter. All the other Technics products were substandard IMO, but this was the turntable to have for listening. Never had one problem, never, nothing

All I ever needed from a turntable....

 Buy one now, because the prices are steadily increasing. Cons? No! Only pros.  PROS: • Quartz accuracy (speed is dead on) • High torque motor • Accurate pitch fader • Accurate anti-skate adjustment • Aluminum diecast cabinet w/thick rubber base material (platter) to absorb unwanted vibrations • Awesome low-mass tone arm with gimbaled suspension

Sold my new AT120 turntable, and purchased a used black 1210MK2 for $300, and glad I did. The AT was ok, but the build quality could not compare to the MK2, and overall I wasn’t pleased. Anyway, this turntable (MK2) is awesome. Extremely well built, quiet, and sounds amazing
