And really the main difference between the RT82 and the RT85 and the RT83 and 84, the connections in between, are some different materials, and then also the cartridge. This one, the RT82, comes with an aluminum platter, whereas the RT85 would have an acrylic one. And then the other main difference is the cartridge

 But I don't think that vinyl and analog purists will mind the manual nature of the RT82 or other reference turntables. Another great feature built into the RT82 and the other reference line turntables that I briefly mentioned earlier are the adjustable feet underneath. These reference turntables have three adjustable rubber vibration isolating feet down here so that you can get the turntable to absolute level to get the best playback from your turntable. So once you have everything set up and you have it going through a preamp and into your speakers or receiver or headphones, how does it sound? Incredibly pure

It’s definitely not overkill (it’s an entry level turntable) but I don’t think it’s the best you can do for the money. Also that Best Buy exclusive color is a crime against humanity.

I grabbed a Pro-Ject Essential III for $300 on Amazon. I was trying to decide between a U-Turn, Fluance RT82, & the E3. The biggest reason I got the E3 was it was available immediately. I LOVE it. I upgraded from the AT LP60, which I liked, but am super excited with the E3. Good luck with your decision.

Would y’all consider this a decent tt for someone new to all this or is it overkill for a beginner? Decided to just get my own tt

 My favorite is the OM Pro S, and it has great bass and amazing sound quality (the other two are great too). I bought the RT 82 as an upgrade for my vintage Technics SL 235, and I thought the OM 10 cartridge was a win-win for me. It has a cool design and looks. However, I am disappointed with the T 82 sound and the OM cartridge (probably I got a crappy one)

The Fluance RT 82 came with the OM 10 cartridge, which I was looking for too. I own a couple of cartridges; Ortofon Concorde MK2, OM Pro S, and Audio-Technica AT-VM95E. My favorite is the OM Pro S, and it has great bass and amazing sound quality (the other two are great too). I bought the RT 82 as an upgrade for my vintage Technics SL 235, and I thought the OM 10 cartridge was a win-win for me

 The sound quality of the bass is not match to my SL 235. I switched cartridges (and switched the pre-amps and used different pre-amps), and the sound quality of the RT 82 improved, but the sound of my SL 235 was still better. You will get a good sound with the RT-82 if you get a decent cartridge (OM Pro S, MK3, or better), and I still recommend the RT 82 if you need a good turntable.

Since I first stepped into vinyl in 2012, I've been using the same Music Hall MMF-2.2 and a Pro-Ject Carbon Debut. This is my first time upgrading since then. I'm only a few hours into listening but jesus christ, an absolute world of a difference with this table

I've taken a long break from upgrading as I've been moving pretty much every year (life of a millennial I suppose?) I've finally settled down with a house which has helped me justify more spending on a decent system. Since I first stepped into vinyl in 2012, I've been using the same Music Hall MMF-2.2 and a Pro-Ject Carbon Debut. This is my first time upgrading since then. I'm only a few hours into listening but jesus christ, an absolute world of a difference with this table. Everything is so transparent and so quiet. I'm not getting listening fatigue even when I listen to it at higher volumes. The details feel effortless. I currently have it hooked up to the built in phono preamp on my Peachtree Nova150, which is surprisingly really solid. Speakers are the Dali Zensor 3's on B&W stands filled with cement. No doubt, my speakers are my current bottleneck and it becomes apparent with this turntable. Looking at some Monitor Silver 300's next, hopefully within the next year.

That turntable is so nice. I really like the Zensor 3, pound for pound, a very underrated speaker. However, if you have the space, the Silver 300 are superb. Wonderfully balanced and the walnut finish would pair with your cabinet beautifully.

I've been running my Music Hall MMF-2.2 since I got into the hobby in 2012. Today I decided to upgrade, finally. Extremely happy with the decision.

It looks a bit plasticky too but it’s well made, if down to a price. A friend who has a Pro-ject Debut Carbon thinks the AT is way better. There may be a better model for you without the 78 and varispeed - haven’t checked.

So today my new speakers arrived. After some consideration and of course the generous help and recommendations of this subreddit I settled on some Q acoustics 3030i speakers. 

I had old jbl ones before and the difference is night and day. They sound so much larger (which they also are) and brighter with more definition in bass and so much clearer mids.

Next up is a turntable for me. I heavily consider a pro-ject debut carbon evo but I kinda don’t want to spend that much. Also someone in my post of last week pointed out that pro-ject turntables are very heavy built and that might be not the right thing for me.

Would love to hear some input and recommendations. 
Also last thing: Is there anything major to consider with speakerwire? Rn im just using normal 2mm speaker wire but I’ve seen that there are way more expensive dedicated speakerwires out there. Is it worth the money?
