 I also wanted a reliable HRM and general fitness tracker.  Pros: + Lightweight / low profile - it's much lighter and has a lower profile than most, which make it as comfortable as it can be if you want to wear it all the time + Good battery life - 61% remaining after 72 hours of use (always-on disabled) + Always-on option - if you're into it, you can have this bad boy shine some of that sweet, sweet blue light at your face all the time + HRM accuracy - as accurate as any out there from my experience + Sleep tracking - seems pretty accurate from what I can gather of my unconscious self, and not particularly noticeable on my wrist; I can't compare to Apple Watch or others on sleep tracking because: (1) I always had to charge those when I was sleeping each night, and (2) they were bulky and uncomfortable to wear while sleeping  Cons: - Price - holy price-itself-out-of-contention, Batman - not even I can justify the price for the niche "dumb" smartwatch I want - Customizability - okay, this one is rough - is it so much to ask to be able to pick the stats / widgets / background of the watch on a grid system? There are maybe 5 watch faces I can stomach, and you have to pay for some of them? - Parity in class - listen, I get it, it looks to have even dumbed itself down more from it's predecessor - that's rough - Fitbit subscription - seemingly required for some of the features to have meaning, and not particularly cheap considering - Responsiveness - it's a little sluggish swiping from screen to screen, nothing all that bad, but I'm a patient person

The battery life is dropped 31% in 12 hours. This is using it as a watch. The display keeps freezing. I contacted Fitbit for support and they took my email address

I'm not getting much use out of its extra little features, and I'm wondering if I should return it and go for one of the simpler bands (or wait for a luxe). I'm especially frustrated by how hard it is just to get the damn thing to show me the watch face/time when I look at it. It seems totally unresponsive and I have to thwack it a few times. And just like the other premium models of wearables on our list, Samsung also commands a higher price, which could be a barrier to ownership for some.  This is the more compact 40mm version rocking a 20mm strap and as you can see there, it's perfectly suited to skinny waif like wrists such as my own. This has to be one of the most slender premium smartwatches out there, especially considering it's got that lovely rounded finish. That aluminium case is as light as it is slim and Samsung has kept the design neat and simple. Sure the bezels could perhaps be a bit skinnier but that fat circle surrounding the screen does actually serve a purpose as I will touch on later

 That said, maybe the bigger Samsung smartwatch models will fare better in the battery life at our stakes. I'll certainly be testing out the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic Edition next, so I'll report back on that. And as a result of the crappy battery life, I rarely got a chance to test out the sleep tracking, which now comes with full snow detection abilities. The couple of nights where I did actually get around to wearing the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 to bed, I did find it was fairly comfortable to wear at least, helped along by the fact that it's quite a compact design and everything, and the sleep tracking was reasonably accurate as well

 A hedgehog that can tell the time, of course, which actually would be pretty frickin' awesome. And if you want to fully recharge the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 in an emergency type situation, well, it takes about two hours for a full recharge, so it's not like you can even just stick it on for 10 minutes, get you a half charge, get you through most of the day. That said, maybe the bigger Samsung smartwatch models will fare better in the battery life at our stakes. I'll certainly be testing out the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic Edition next, so I'll report back on that

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Review | One Month Later...

 Looking super amoled displays and using the touchscreens is generally a very nice experience where they're, predictable, responsive and surprisingly accurate, even when using the on-screen keyboards, but using them with wet or sweaty hands can be a bit of a challenge, though, as water on the display does Make them a little bit unpredictable, but all specs aside. Once again, i have to say that samsung pretty much nails it when it comes to the physical design. Both these watches look great and the classic version looks very familiar to previous generation galaxy watches. So, to be perfectly honest with you, probably one of the better results, i've seen from a risk based heart rate sensor and this wasn't a mellow ride either where went up and down a lot over some pretty rough terrain

 In the watch for - and i also have seen improvements over the last couple weeks with some firmer updates, but it was kind of disappointing to see the drop in heart rate from that road ride. That was a couple days ago and basically, what seems to happen is that once it does lose heart rate has a hard time reacquiring it. So is it better? Yes, is there room for improvement? Absolutely oh - and i also wanted to mention that there is also automatic exercise, recognition for walking and running the elliptical rowing machine swimming, as well as a catch-all workout profile which they call a dynamic workout, which i found to detect something like circuit training. But just know that if you do want to record your location for walking and running so you can get disinformation for outdoors you'll want to enable this title which wasn't enabled for me by default

 So what i thought i'd do is give it another go using the circuit training workout profile, just to see if this profile takes more frequent heart rate samples but same deal here where it was infrequent. But i do have to say that, for what heart rate data did collect for this workout, it actually was pretty decent and of course i didn't stop there, and on this session i used the strava app on one of the watchfors and then i thought i tried The exercise bike profile again to see if there's any difference in terms of the data that was collected, and it looks to be about the same for the native app where it was infrequent, but the strava app. That does seem to collect more detailed information where it takes more samples, even though that particular watch 4 red did have some issues, but the other watch 4 in orange did okay. Overall, i have to say that i do see improvements with the new heart rate sensor

 So is it better? Yes, is there room for improvement? Samsung Galaxy Watch4 In-Depth Review for Sports and Fitness

 Now turning this thing on, you do have Wear OS, which is, you know, the Android operating system for Samsung watches and for just smartwatches in general and what's really cool is that this thing is really kind of reminiscent on Samsung design. You know, I actually do like stock Android and this is kind of more stock Android than it is, you know, One UI, which I actually do like having that middle ground is really cool. There's a ton of applications you can download. You have the full, you know, Play Store for Wear OS on this thing too, which is cool

 And there's a lot of capability behind this watch. This thing can definitely do more than just, you know, taking phone calls and different things like that. And in my opinion, one of the main things that I use for my, you know, smartwatches is basically fitness. You know, I love seeing how basically my activity throughout the day, I love seeing that type of health related stuff too

 But definitely when it comes down to the Galaxy Watch 4, I think this watch is still completely worth it for sure. There's really not too many other options out there in the market for the Android side that kind of keep up with this thing or beat this thing, in my opinion. If you're in the market, I would highly recommend buying something like the Galaxy Watch 4. It still holds up extremely well, and if your phone is compatible, I'd recommend going for it for sure

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 In 2022! (Still Worth Buying?) (Review)

 Really, my biggest complaint is that Samsung Health's third party app integration is weak. It's pretty much just Strava and then nothing else that I would want. And again, there's just the fact that you are committing to using Samsung Health for a long time and trusting Samsung to keep your data private. Just like with Apple Health or Fitbit or Google Fit or whatever, committing to a health tracking platform means a little bit of lock in

 You can also get a bunch of custom watch faces too, if you want. Battery life is good enough. I decided to test the hardest one, so I used the smallest watch. And I've been able to turn on the always on screen, do some GPS track workouts, receive a ton of notifications, because everybody does, and still have just enough to track my sleep that night and then have to charge it in the morning

 Now, in terms of accuracy, I compared it to an Apple watch and a Garmin bike computer with a little, you know, chest mounted heart rate monitor. And the Galaxy Watch 4 was basically the same for heart rate and speed. Pretty good. But it was consistently off for distance by about five percent

 I decided to test the hardest one, so I used the smallest watch. And I've been able to turn on the always on screen, do some GPS track workouts, receive a ton of notifications, because everybody does, and still have just enough to track my sleep that night and then have to charge it in the morning. If you use it more lightly, you could maybe get two days out of it. It's not amazing battery life, but again, it's enough

 But the short battery life makes this watch a poor value. If this watch had a t-shirt size, it would be extra-medium. I don't hate it, and I don't love it.

 The stock charger it comes with is also very slow. I suspect there is some bloatware on it that is consuming my battery, but I'm not particularly savvy enough to figure out what that is yet. Samsung's Health app is as crappy as Google Fit and Fitbit, and is very difficult to set up. It insists on 2FA, which is not easy to set up, since their app and website are terrible
