 In terms of a profile here, it's pretty much an on trail ski, so not a ton of rocker going on, nice positive camber underfoot and just a bit, just mostly to get you into the turn and out of the turn, doesn't really have much to do with soft snow, flotation or anything like that. But yeah, built for on trail carving, I mean this thing's just as smooth and stable and damp as it gets, pretty heavy too, doesn't really, it's not very agreeable to much other than going fast and railing turns. This is a 182 here and this thing generates an 18 meter turn radius, so that's pretty average for a ski like this, definitely that shorter GS turn, not quite what you would call like a beer league cheater ski but yeah, you could use this in a race course I guess. But really meant for just that all mountain carving, like I said, not true to that soft snow or anything like that due to the weight but the build of the ski is going to plow right through it

 So 86 underfoot, pretty wide for that frontside carving ski, so it's definitely splitting that difference between frontside and all-mountain. It does it very effectively. In terms of the construction, it's got a wood core and it's got the burly metal in it. So it's 0

 Just enough rocker to help you release from the turn. Again, if that was that full thick metal from end to end, side to side, tip to tail, this would be a lot more abusive of a tail. So as it is now, a little bit friendlier, more accessible, lets you release. But still that flat tail with the metal at the back, pretty business-like back there

 And then they line up the tip rocker pretty well with where that metal starts to taper in. So that gives you a little bit more of it that, you know, it compounds with that Bafotex material to make the ski easier to initiate without taking any power or strength away from the underfoot and midbody of the ski. Also, when you're getting up this wide, you know, it is nice to have that width and a little bit of that rocker for when the snow does get soft. You know, we're not going to be on firm icy snow 100% of the time with this ski

 It really does a good job of making it more accessible to a wider range of skiers without removing that top end of performance, which is what this thing is really all about. This is the 175. This one generates a 17 meter turn radius at 86 millimeters underfoot. They do have their triple radius in here, so there is a variable in terms of where you're putting pressure on the ski as to how it's going to turn

 Also, when you're getting up this wide, you know, it is nice to have that width and a little bit of that rocker for when the snow does get soft. You know, we're not going to be on firm icy snow 100% of the time with this ski. It does want to be in more of an all-mountain format from time to time. So that helps for sure

You might not even fully realize just how much you want a ski like this. For high-volume ski touring, steep-and-rowdy firm-snow ski mountaineering, and work-week, headlamp exercise skinning, a lightweight set-up based on the K2 WayBack 80 is just the ticket. The featherweight construction flies uphill. The narrow and stiff construction grabs on the steeps but gets bucked around in tougher snow. 
This is a specialized tool. You won't pick these for day-to-day backcountry skiing. Deep, perfect powder snow is enjoyable, but bigger guns will be even more fun. Any sort of poor snow &#40;breakable crust? Slop?&#41; is better handled by a bigger and heavier option. All small skis are under-equipped for tough snow, but the K2 does better than most. It is this ski's more forgiving tough-snow performance that edges it ahead of other close competitors.

Obviously I won't be taking these out for powder laps but for long/fast and/or late season missions this is a great choice at a great price. Match them with a race binding (I mounted a Plum 150), light boots and race skins and you'll have a setup you won&#39;t mind hiking with to find snow in mid summer.

I got these for late spring/summer use and couldn't be happier. They are very light but can still be skied hard. I have found they shine on steep icy slopes (skied bulletproof on Temple SW) and they handle those horrible summer sun cups just fine. Compared to the Waybacks 88s I find they are a bit less grabby in breakable crusts and easier to control on steep ice
