Fender Rumble 25 vs Fender Rumble 40

The 200 may be the exception to this – it’s $150 more than the 100, but it only delivers 40 more watts to the speaker. That speaker, however, is a 15-inch, compared to the 12-inch on the 100, so maybe it’s worth it to you. The bang-for-the-buck award definitely goes to the 25 – great sound for a hundred bucks and a small box! I’m a very happy camper with the 100 and the 25. For practice, jamming, and small venues, though, you really don’t need more than the 40

I was a little disappointed by the sound of this amp. To my ears, it's not as punchy (or tight) as I would like. It has a bit of mud and hollowness that I don't typically like to hear. However, the price is outstanding, and I have no problem at all carrying it around

I play 5-string bass and when the volume of the amp is 50% or a little more, the single 10” speaker resonates and rattles badly when I play open B string. I’ll be lugging the 4-10 cabinet and Hartke head which is what I was trying to avoid because of back problems. It is suited for larger venues. If you play 5-string bass, I do not recommend this amp

I’ve been a guitar player for 25 years when I got into playing the bass a few months ago. I first got the rumble 25 but returned it because I felt that I had to turn it up too much to get the volume I needed next to my drummer, who has a small kit and a light touch. (I did love the sound and simplicity of the 25 though! Also, sounded fantastic with a clean Strat.) With the 100 I never have to turn it up beyond half way on the master and 25% on the gain

I'd say upgrade the amp next if you like the bass you've got. A Rumble 25 will not cut it in a band context.

I personally don't like the Rumble 25, because I think the Rumble 40 is a better deal (more bang for your bucks). However, as soon as you get into a position where you're playing with a drummer or a guitarist, you need to have at least 3 times as much wattage as the guitar. I'm playing with a guitarist who has 100 watt tube amps (either Blackstar or Marshall) and a 4 x 10 cabinet.

I read that you might need at least 100 watts in order to keep up with a drummer, but you could probably get by if you crank it at full volume.

The thing that stangs out the most is the XLS output jack in the back that allowed our sound guy to plug it into the giant sub cub speaker stand and basically fill the room with atomic level boom boom. It was awesome! Cheers! Keep rocking everyone! Be safe out there!
