 Hey everyone, it's Brad here with BackcountrySkiingCanada.com and today we're going to talk about the Faction

 So the Agent series of skis by Faction was introduced last year, the 3.0 and 4.0 versions

 were introduced this year and as I mentioned before this is the 3.0 version.

 This line of skis is heavily influenced by the Faction Dictator.

 Both ski lines share the same dimensions so this ski, the 3.0, is 34 in the tip, 106 underfoot

 So it shares the same dimensions and also the same sidecut radius, 21 meters.

 So the Faction Dictator heavily influenced this Agent 3.0 ski.

 This is a much lighter ski, 720 grams lighter for the pair at the 180 centimeter length

 It's made for the backcountry but it can also ski the resort as well.

 It's got generous tip rocker as you can see there up front, softer tips than tails but

 Underfoot here we have a titanal mounting plate embedded in the ski construction and

 four, I think you can see that four millimeters of camber underfoot.

 So in the tails we've got a little bit less early rise as you can see and also we've got

 So this rubberized bumper here will help with durability when you get the ski and put it

 down on pavement or rocks and things like that.

 And also it's got that built-in skin notch so that the skins, the tail clips of the skins

 won't migrate off when you're going up skin track.

 So if you're in the market for a new ski I'd highly recommend this one.

The Volkl M6 Mantra has truly earned our approval as the best all-mountain ski, keeping the Mantra series atop the podium once again. This year Volkl introduces their 3D Radius Sidecut technology to the M6 Mantra. Boasting three different turn radii within the side of the ski, the M6 can achieve a different turn outcome depending on skier input. This new technology admittedly took some getting used to. However, we found the tech especially helpful when merging onto a new run with more traffic or exiting a mogul field back onto the groomer. The M6 Mantra is on the damp side of the spectrum for skis. But we can’t complain when the overall result is the superior combination of stability and maneuverability that this ski offers through icy groomers, afternoon chop and slop, and deep pow days.

On the heels of the extremely successful and well-loved M5, Volkl hasn’t rocked the boat too much with the new M6 Mantra. It remains an extremely powerful and precise all-mountain option that’s perfectly happy in the hands of hard chargers at speed. Volkl did make some tweaks to the Titanal Frame construction: shorter skis now have less metal and are a little softer, while longer options are stronger with more metal. You also get the brand’s 3D Radius (also found in the Kendo below), which effectively gives the ski three different turn radii. In practice, it’s pretty impressive, and the M6 feels comfortable at everything from tight and quick turns to wide GS sweepers.

It’s a close call between the M6 and Nordica Enforcer above, and both are versatile, standout models. In parsing out the differences, the Mantra is noticeably wider at the tip (by 8mm), and its stiffer build gives it the advantage in terms of stability. But the Nordica is more comfortable in tight spaces with its nimble, easier-to-manage flex (this also makes it a better option for intermediate-level skiers). Both are excellent one-quiver options for riders that spend the majority of their time on groomers or in regions with moderate snowfall.
