But even without the bridge, this lock still packs plenty of features and performs very well in our tests. It offers a fingerprint scanner, a touch-screen keypad for PINs, an access log to track who comes and goes, an auto-lock feature, and the ability to lock and unlock it from its smartphone app via Bluetooth when nearby. In our lab tests, this Eufy earns an Excellent rating for its resistance to kick-ins as sold. It’s very resistant to picking, too, but could be better at withstanding drilling. This lock also gets high scores for its convenience features and ease of setup.

An apparent amalgamation of Eufy’s $260 Eufy Smart Lock Touch & WiFi and $200 Eufy Video Doorbell 2K, the Video Smart Lock provides a slight bargain compared to shelling out for two devices, but there are obvious issues with a dual product here. 

For starters, most people struggle with video doorbells, often not realizing they are supposed to press the camera somewhere to alert the owner there’s someone at the door. With this product, the doorbell button is on the door lock, in the place where a key would usually go. That’s likely to cause confusion.

Anker’s smart home brand Eufy Security today launched its latest product on Kickstarter. The $399 Eufy Security Video Smart Lock is a video doorbell and smart lock in one and is expected to ship to backers in May 2022, with a general release in June. The somewhat unique two-in-one security device notably uses a fingerprint reader to unlock the door and can send alerts when specific people arrive or leave using facial recognition, according to the company.

I really don’t know what rating to give but I can’t go to 5 star as I bought it because it stated that it auto locks when door is closed but it will lock itself when ajar after the timer is up.   I bought 2 of these to replace a pair of older touchpad deadbolts (not automatic ones). These are solidly built and heavy even. Fit and finish are great. Super easy to install and setup was the really easy and painless

 They have been in touch and it is believed I just got a faulty lock. Also I seem to be in the minority here with problems. I will keep updating.  Pin Works as expected, key (special key) works as expected. The lock is beautiful, build quality is excellent (might I say the best but that's speculation since I haven't touched all the locks in the comparison), works smooth, app is intuitive, and looks really good beside my eufy doorbell. I have not missed Wifi connection as the last smart lock I had did not have this feature but I do want that feature.  Features I want in the future:  Bluetooth/wifi dongle to unlock/lock remotely, ability to unlock the door from within the doorbell video window, ability to lock door when arming Eufy Alarm (which I do not have yet it and feels it needs a backlit kepad)  Final thoughts: If this is your first Smart lock don't let Wifi stop you from buying this amazing Hardware

 4 stars  Update 8/252021 After My final thoughts...Eufy answered All My future request by providing Wifi Dongle for remote access and adding lock and unlock functionality in Video doorbell view

...  Researched the other Smart locks:  First off I was going to buy this lock before it released but then found out it did not have wifi this initially was a deal breaker for me

 I'll update again on the new Unit as I saw one other reviewer had the same issue got it resolved but didn't update their review stars from one star...

In our tests, it receives an Excellent rating for drilling thanks to its keyless design, as well as high marks for kick-ins and lock picking. The only thing about this lock that might make some consumers consider other options is that it uses a special wireless network called Z-Wave. That means you’ll need to connect it to a smart home hub that supports Z-Wave devices, such as a Samsung SmartThings smart home hub, Hubitat smart home hub, or Ring Alarm system. Still, the lock offers a number of useful features, including a touch-screen keypad for PIN codes, an access log to track who comes and goes, and voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

 This, like most electronic deadbolts, doesn't work with rechargeable batteries, because they don't provide enough oomph.  Product life: The mechanism started failing after about 3.5 years. I don't know how long these are supposed to last, but it eventually just stopped being able to grab the deadbolt and the motor would just whirr and grind

Used the Kwikset Obsidian keyless deadbolt for 3.5 years. It looks great, but has a faulty touchscreen and ultimately the locking motor ended up failing on us. We ended up replacing it with a model that has physical buttons

 Our first set of batteries lasted only 4 months (which either means do not buy Amazon brand batteries, or I'm going to have to change the batteries 3 times a year). Beautiful looking lock with very poor user design making battery replacement much harder than it needs to be.

  If the batteries failed you could not get in the house.  But with a battery backup you don't have that problem anymore.  Also there is a low battery alert to let you know when to replace batteries. The auto lock feature is a nice touch but I disabled it because I don't want to have to unlock the door every time I want to enter the house

Kwikset has always made a quality product and their customer service is excellent.   I currently use a Kwikset electronic deadbolt on all of my entry doors.  If the Obsidian is anything like the current Kwikset deadbolts I currently own then I know it will last a long time.
