Elgato Facecam, you will think you're in a studio. That thing is pretty expensive so I don't recommend it to non-professionals but it's badass for those who always demand the best quality.

I got a Macbook Air back in 2019 and the camera quality on the thing is just awful. I've been using the webcam from my desktop when I have to use the mac for video chatting, but I was wondering if it's possible/worthwhile to upgrade the camera hardware itself. Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Is it possible to upgrade the camera in a Macbook Air?

 With the new software update from Elgato, the flickering green lines issue seems to have been fixed. This is a good webcam choice from the ones I’ve tried at a reasonable price point. If you are thinking about doing anything streaming related with OBS and this webcam, would highly recommend getting a Windows PC. Soo many issues trying to use a Mac, which all seemed to go away when I tried the same workflow on a PC, and the CPU usage was dramatically better on PC

97 and got much better results.  Thinking about keeping this Facecam now. It’s easier and more convenient to set up than a DSLR camera as a webcam.  Update: it’s been 4 months now and I decided to keep the Facecam

 The image quality seems similar to a laptop cam, maybe a little better, but less than a cell phone cam. I might return this and get an old unlocked iPhone on eBay and try to use that as a dedicated webcam instead. It would be nice if Apple put iPhone cameras in MacBooks.  Update: used a different usb c to usb c cable plugged directly into laptop and got the same flickering green lines when recording in OBS on the MacBook Air 2020

 Also night quality is slightly grainy but good enough than other versions of face cams that I own!

 The c922 seems to struggle a little with the colours with it. Looking washed out when we close the curtains, the stream cam does a really good job, but we notice that the razer key out really overexposes the image. But when we move our hands close to the lens, then the exposure looks good on the keo, but it overexposes again as soon as we move our hand away the exposure changes on all the other cameras as well. When we move our hands around overall, the stream cam is going to do a very good job and it will be a great upgrade from a cheap or inbuilt webcam

Logitech StreamCam Quality Review

 That is a good feature to have, because i was actually thinking about an idea last week that a tripod image would look amazing on for streaming and well. This camera has it. The camera quality is pretty good for a webcam, so much better than my previous one. But personally, i think plugging in my iphone that camera quality on my iphone is better than the stream cam, but there's a lot of glitches with the iphone webcam

But if you are a budget streamer or just start enough streaming, there's there's cheaper options out there to start off with logitech already have a webcam on the market that streamers used for years. It'S 720p, but it's it's worth the it's worth the price.  The focus on this camera is top quality, because if you move up down, it's still focused all you have to do. Is that and then it has to focus, so it's pretty good at tracking your face. The one thing that i find amazing about this webcam is: when you change a setting on it, it actually saves to your pc. So when you turn off your pc and turn it back on all the settings you changed are saved to the webcam, so you never have to go back and change the settings over and over again, like i did on my last webcam, which was a nightmare now
