Elgato Facecam, you will think you're in a studio. That thing is pretty expensive so I don't recommend it to non-professionals but it's badass for those who always demand the best quality.

I got a Macbook Air back in 2019 and the camera quality on the thing is just awful. I've been using the webcam from my desktop when I have to use the mac for video chatting, but I was wondering if it's possible/worthwhile to upgrade the camera hardware itself. Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Is it possible to upgrade the camera in a Macbook Air?

 With the new software update from Elgato, the flickering green lines issue seems to have been fixed. This is a good webcam choice from the ones I’ve tried at a reasonable price point. If you are thinking about doing anything streaming related with OBS and this webcam, would highly recommend getting a Windows PC. Soo many issues trying to use a Mac, which all seemed to go away when I tried the same workflow on a PC, and the CPU usage was dramatically better on PC

97 and got much better results.  Thinking about keeping this Facecam now. It’s easier and more convenient to set up than a DSLR camera as a webcam.  Update: it’s been 4 months now and I decided to keep the Facecam

 The image quality seems similar to a laptop cam, maybe a little better, but less than a cell phone cam. I might return this and get an old unlocked iPhone on eBay and try to use that as a dedicated webcam instead. It would be nice if Apple put iPhone cameras in MacBooks.  Update: used a different usb c to usb c cable plugged directly into laptop and got the same flickering green lines when recording in OBS on the MacBook Air 2020

 Also night quality is slightly grainy but good enough than other versions of face cams that I own!

 UNLESS you have great studio 3 point perspective lighting then sure it'll work fantastically for you, but at that point, you might as well go with a green screen. You need lots of distance behind your chair and you can't have stuff behind you; it needs to be a plain wall or long room and your body/clothes needs to be a different color than the background for it to detect you properly. For me, again, it was awful at performance since I don't have 3 giant lights to be at my left, right, and behind me to give myself a glowing edge so the camera can actually see me. (If you don't know what 3-point perspective lighting is, look it up

GREAT Camera for the price! My Cons are just picky :P

Camera quality was great and setup was as simple as you would expect. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because I can't get video through my dock. I have to connect it directly to my laptop USB port for video. And sometimes when I do, it conflicts with the USB port next to it which has my keyboard connected

 So the keyboard starts missing key strokes. I suspect a powered USB hub will resolve these issues for me.

 Let's get into what else comes in the box. All right In here you have some accessories. You get a quality Usb to Usb C cable. Now this is a thick cable

 This if you notice is on. uh there's no lights in the room except for the lights right there. And you could tell by the Sony A6400 camera here with the quality lens the exposure is off. I'm gonna go ahead and turn on the lights that are above me to get a quality light in and you can tell that the Brio itself is doing a really good job with actually low light settings or even a window behind me which is pretty neat

 Anyway, guys, I hope you enjoyed this review of the Logitech 4k camera. It is one of the more advanced cameras out that's a true 4k camera with a lot of different settings and fields of view and overall I'm very pleased with this camera. I think it is one of the better out cameras out and I'm going to be using it for a lot of our conference calls and so forth. and I like the fact that it's very portable

 You can use the simple stand clip style if you're attaching to a laptop or TV or unscrew it and use a tripod. It came with a bag and a charging connector cord. I found it easy to set up to my smart TV and use with Skype. The picture clarity was clear and it didn't seem to have any distortion when in use
