If you're interested in a trackball at a mid-range price point, we recommend the ELECOM HUGE M-HT1DRBK. It's a versatile finger-operated trackball with a right-handed shape. It includes a conventional scroll wheel with left and right tilt buttons and ten programmable inputs. It also has an integrated leatherette wrist rest which, true to its name, makes it fairly large and bulky. However, it's still a good fit for all but small-sized hands.

It connects wirelessly with a USB receiver and uses a pair of AA batteries for power. You can use the companion software for remapping buttons and adjusting CPI settings. However, only three CPI presets are available, and the highest setting is only 1200 CPI, which may not be sensitive enough if you use a very high-resolution display. Unfortunately, this trackball doesn't have Bluetooth support like the Logitech MX ERGO, and like all mice on this list, apart from the GameBall Mouse, it has a very low fixed polling rate, making it unsuitable for gaming. That said, it's an affordable option with plenty of customizable controls for productivity or everyday use.

 The biggest issue, and the reason I sent it back, was the stickiness of the trackball movement. There was nothing I could do to get it to roll smoothly from a stopped state, it would always jerk, making precise movements impossible. Not only was this not good for gaming, but even something as simple as copy and paste were difficult to use with this mouse.

 The buttons are very well placed, though I miss the DPI switch on the side. Here it is on the bottom. Just as with the Huge, I don't like the stickiness of the trackball. Compared to the Logitech M570 and Ergo, which are smooth as butter, it's hard to justify keeping anything that doesn't move as smoothly, even if the buttons and scroll wheel do feel superior to those on the Logitech mice

 Even at low DPI precision is decreased. Weight: Mouse itself is moderately heavy with 4 sticky pads on the bottom to prevent sliding. It does a pretty decent job of staying in place. Quality: Buttons feal nice, solid audible clicks

 Weight: The weight of the mouse is lighter than the Huge, but heavier than the EX-G, and nearly twice the weight of the Logitech M570. Ironically, with not much pressure, it will slide across my desk, where the M570 under the same pressue won't move at all. The M570 is actually the most solid mouse I have.  However I find that every modern trackball has to be ‘treated’ out of the box. Here is my method:  Get some Engleside Old Fashioned Kitchen Wax & Cleaner. ASIN: B005WW1JF6. Give the ball a good washing with liquid dish detergent

 As you move back on the button the force changes to where it won’t click at all. This does tend to slow me down when working, as I have to find the sweet spot to click.  The thing is, that is just opposite of the so-called Button #5. The rear of the button is easier to click than the front, go figure

As odd as this sounds, my hand is too big for this trackball. The heel of my palm sits at the very edge of the palm rest, and I have to do an awkward claw type grip to position my fingers over the ball and buttons. I'm sure this would be very comfy with a smaller hand, but for me it was just not usable. For reference, my hand is about 7

5" long from heel of my palm to the tip of my middle finger.  It's a shame, though, because the tracking accuracy of this thing is very good, and it looks really cool on my desk. I've ordered a Kensington Expert Mouse instead to see how that goes.  It would also be nice to see some sort of trackball-based scrolling on this; it is quite awkward to use scroll wheel with my thumb

The Logitech Ergo M575 Mouse is the hero your strained wrists have been waiting for. With it, you won&rsquo;t need to move them at all. Just lay your hand on your mouse once, and you&rsquo;re all set for eight hours straight without needing to move it again (aside from getting up to go to the bathroom). Of course, your thumb will be getting a workout the whole time.

That&rsquo;s because this mouse uses a trackball to move the cursor. It&rsquo;s not a new approach, but at $50 and with 2.4GHz and Bluetooth support, the Ergo M575 is more advanced than what you would have gotten in the &lsquo;90s.
Using it will take some practice, of course, but it feels like a dream in your hand. It completely eliminates strain from repetitive motions, and the wide body perfectly contorts to my hand shape. Again, it does require my thumb to do a lot of movement, but if there&rsquo;s anything decades of gaming has taught me, it&rsquo;s that my thumbs are pretty resilient when it comes to carpal tunnel syndrome. The rest of my hand, not so much.
Of course, speaking of gaming, not being able to move the mouse&rsquo;s body itself does come with some struggles. For instance, while this isn&rsquo;t our best gaming mouse list, let&rsquo;s not kid ourselves. You&rsquo;re probably not constantly swapping between a gaming and work mouse with your home setup. If you were hoping to use this mouse to moonlight in games, think again. While its trackball can reach a DPI of up to 2000, it&rsquo;s harder to do controlled flicks or steady tracking with it. Not common use cases on the job, but very common in games.
Clicking-and-dragging also takes some rewiring at first, as I&rsquo;m not used to using both my thumb and my index finger when doing so. It took a bit of thought to remember to let go of my index finger when I was done dragging, but not my thumb. Similarly, it can be hard to precisely highlight text with a trackball.
Most of these issues, aside from the mouse not being well-suited to games, are easy enough to fix with practice. And once you do, your wrists will thank you. Your desk might thank you too. While the M575 is a bulky mouse, it also paradoxically has a small footprint because you don&rsquo;t need to move it when using it. It doesn&rsquo;t even need a mousepad, making it great for people with small desks or keyboard trays.
Like the Logitech M510, the M575 is compatible with the Logitech Options software, which lets you remap its three extra buttons, check battery level, swap the left/right click and adjust DPI. The customization on offer here is fairly robust, and allows you to set a button to open programs, control media, enter certain key combinations and the like. Plus, you can set the mouse to use different settings depending on which program you have open.
If you like trackball mice, this is one of the best modern options available.

 This did slight help with wrist pain. I felt that the discomfort just shifted to different area. The mouse is a bit bulky and the ergonomic design is not for everyone. May be it is good of you have large hands

 The learning curve for using this sort of mouse is pretty minimal, especially if you've played games on console and use a joystick to move the in game cursor.  I have a couple of personal issues with this mouse. The ergonomics for me are not that optimal as: my hands are big and I prefer a more vertical tilt. The mouse would feel great for me if the tilt was slightly more aggressive and my hand (which is slightly above average) hangs off the side of the mouse

 Today we're going to be checking out the Logitech Ergo M575 mouse. Now this mouse is in the Ergo

 lineup and Logitech makes a few different Ergo or Ergonomic types of mice. They have like the

 is what Logitech calls it on their website. And they also have a different color called the
