The biggest issue, and the reason I sent it back, was the stickiness of the trackball movement. There was nothing I could do to get it to roll smoothly from a stopped state, it would always jerk, making precise movements impossible. Not only was this not good for gaming, but even something as simple as copy and paste were difficult to use with this mouse.

Going back into the review, the Deft Pro is going to be very similar, in a sense, to the other Elacom product, the Elacom Huge. I say similar in that ...

As odd as this sounds, my hand is too big for this trackball. The heel of my palm sits at the very edge of the palm rest, and I have to do an awkward claw type grip to position my fingers over the ball and buttons. I'm sure this would be very comfy with a smaller hand, but for me it was just not usable. For reference, my hand is about 7

Due to severe muscle imbalances, RSI, carpal tunnel etc., I've been on an ergonomic mission for some time and have finally switched my setup to a Kinesis Freestyle (split keyboard) with hopes to move on to a dactyll build or Kinesis Advanage 2. As for my mouse, after using a Logi Marble for a bit, I received an Elecom Deft Pro today which I am already starting to love from a few minutes of using it.

ahhhhh Dear designers, the reason the MS explorer & the logitech trackman worked for different hand sizes was because it allowed the hand to curl around the device more like your smaller version rather than forcing the hand flat & spread. The larger exposed ball is almost perfection but if it weren't recessed into the body of the device it would also help make it easier to use for a wider range of hand sizes. I cannot strongly enough express my gratitude that this company is trying. Please please please - keep trying
