 I’ve been gigging on one for almost two years and it still great. Tracking is excellent, and the dedicated stop switch is incredibly handy.

What do you guys suggest? The boss RC-3 looks great but is a bit pricey. Heard the ditto looper breaks after a while.

 If I just want to create a loop, I've got 10 different places I can create that loop. So if I push down on this mode switch, we get L, we've got different functions here so we can move between L, P and F. Now I'll explain what they do in a second but L basically allows us to select a different loop memory so if we push down on there we can now select between one or zero to nine which is basically 10 so I'm going to select zero. Okay, so one quick thing what you notice there is I press loop once to record and then if I wanted to overdub, as soon as I stopped basically by pressing the loop button again it started to loop that loop as it were

 Now if I wanted to actually stop the loop I just press the loop button twice, okay so once to play, twice to stop, okay. Now you can see the memory LED is on which means that that's now stored permanently in the memory. If I pull the power cable out it's still stored, which is great and I can store up to ten loops like that. Now within that I can now use these effects buttons to do interesting things

If I press the half speed button you can do both of these at the same time, what I love about that is the sound quality remains amazing, you're not getting any hiss or weird kind of wobbling noises from the half speed, it's essentially, it's dropped the pitch obviously but it sounds super super cool, really really nice

 Like everything TC Electronics makes, it's a good quality pedal in an ironclad box.  So that's to say, I don't have any digs against the Ditto. I just want to make sure you know what you're not getting for that $50 extra bucks.

I thought I'd write a review for this because the price-point will certainly make it attractive to young players without a lot of money to spend who might look at this as a good way to get into looping. It's also marketed that way as a "looper for guitarists," but honestly, I think every looper pedal on the market is "for guitarists." This one's inexpensive because they left off some very (IMO) indispensable knobs, buttons and displays--but it's only $50 less than one with all the bells and whistles.  This is a good pedal, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who's never used a looper before

 And finally, there are small miniature dip switches that allow you to make kind of advanced configurations like true-bypass versus dry through. that's sort of thing. All the goodness though, that you're normally going to use is on the top, so let's go ahead and talk about that. First of all, we have an area for loop 1 and loop 2

 Oh, did I tell you that this looper has two separate loops? That's pretty cool. And I guess that's why it's the X4 as opposed to the X2. So each loop has a loop level control. It also has a miniature switch for storing and deleting loops, and it also has the the loop foot switch that allows you to record, playback, overdub, undo, and redo all in one switch

 So let me go ahead and turn on a loop and just let that play for a moment and you'll I'll just bring the level up and down so you can hear that All right. Pretty pretty straightforward stuff, right? Oh, by the way, did I mention that I'm an ambient guitarist? Yes, you're going to hear delay on this video. Can't help it, it's in my blood, so that's pretty cool. This is an excellent product which will expand creative options for both home and gigging musicians.  First off, it is a very sturdy unit--metal case, rather large and heavy but well-constructed. The shipping and packing are appropriate. It comes with a USB cord and wall adapter--does not utilize batteries

 The FX section is a pretty cool added feature as well as the ability to independently control levels and the rate of decay of old loops as new ones are added (many of you I'm sure are aware that as intense overdubbing occurs, things can get a bit muddy).  Hard to see anybody making much use of them in performance, unless they just play boring one-chord jams, and even then it will be a struggle. I predict 95% of people will just keep that button set to STOP all the time. Finally, the price. WTF? 200 bucks
