The + feature (this seems to be a suction boost) is the only feature that actually causes any suction on solid surfaces but drains the battery so fast. It works fine on my low pile rug with the brush heater going. It is incredibly difficult to change attachments - especially removing the handle from the long hose. It takes quite of bit of strength to get the pieces apart

The best vacuum for hair (in my experience) is the Dyson V11 Animal (cordless so it's convenient to use...so it actually gets used)

Also on a good note the design allows to vacuum under furniture and get into tight spaces! You pay for what you get.

I would waste 15-20 lint roller sheets every day getting the hair off our bed before and it would never get them all. There are better choices out there. The Bissel Lynx is lighter, easier to manage has great suction, and is no mess cleaning it out. Everything easily drops out. No need to stick you hand into it to clean it out

If you can afford the up front $400 and an additional $130 or so every two and a half or three years then this is worth it.

The Hoover Onepwr Blade+ is an ok vacuum with a very good battery system. Not mind blowing power but it has a price that really makes it a strong value.

While the machine is not overly heavy, it gets heavy lifting and holding it (with these tired old arms).

So for the record I live a lone no children in a 1200 sq ft house that is half carpet half hard wood floors. I was able to sweep one bedroom on carpet mode in speed mode before the battery died then had to swap the second one in so I could finish dusting with the attachment. The actual power of the vacuum is strong it did the job but one thing that was driving me nuts was the end attachments spin when locked into place? So if your dusting with the extended reach in the corners of a wall or steps it will keep pushing the nozzle around if your not being super corrective in what your doing. All around this is a bad buy IMO and I'm going to do a return on it and spend the extra on a Dyson

This V8 model like other model all have design problem. 1) The exhaust is blow out in wrong position, it blow right in your face especially when vacuum the position is high (ex. vacuum the ceiling or the stairway) 2) Battery life is short, only has 2800mah, it last only 7 minutes ( power mode when is new), can't even finish my stairway. 3) The particle vacuum in the chamber, they all stuck in front where the entrance is, not evenly around the chamber, never can fill to the empty line on the chamber

Direct air or dirty air machines like the Hoover Onepwr Hepa+ and Kirbys air and dirt go through the motor then into the bag. Since the bag is placed after the motor there is no need for an additional filter Hepa or otherwise but many direct/dirty air machines use their outer bag as an additional layer of filtration. As to why they don’t call all their bags Hepa is probably to simplify marketing.

***(3 yr update)*** After 3 years we moved on from Dyson. The filters just didn't last long, the battery life was bad to begin with but just got worse and worse. The power go weaker and weaker. On hard floor surfaces it had a really hard time sucking things up without just throwing it across the room

Just remember their filtration isnt going to be the best just clean the pre-motor filter twice a week and the post motor filter monthly. Just don’t expect them to be the main vacuum cleaner, that i’d say get a $350 Henry or Sebo.
