Shark IZ462H Vertex Duoclean Cordless Vacuum

I just bought my first vacuum and I got the Shark IZ462H Vertex Duoclean Cordless Vacuum. 

Initially I really liked this Vacuum, since I live in an apartment. It was convenient and cleaned hardwood floors as well as carpet. 

However, one day when I was vacuuming my carpet it started shocking me out of nowhere. These electric shocks are really annoying and kind of painful. I like having my area clean, especially floors, but these shocks put me off from using the vacuum. 

I'm really sad about this, because I like this vacuum. Is there anything I can do to avoid getting shocked? Is it just my vacuum that is defective?

Cordless Shark Duoclean Vacuum Keeps Electric Shocking my Hand.

Self-propelling function makes it incredibly easy to use, much easier than vacuums or sweeping. 

 Despite not having the roller brush, the B7 motorhead was decent on hard floors, at least on small particles of dirt. However, it tends to kick debris behind the brush, particularly stuff like pet leader and quinoa. You can't use it for cleaning large and extra large debris like Cheerios and Fruit Loops because it lacks the clearance and it also struggles with large piles of dirt. It did fairly well in the sand on hard floor tests, picking up 99

93 percent in three tests, which is still a decent score for a vacuum at this price point. It was also much better at cleaning large and extra large particles of dirt on carpet than on hard surfaces, picking up most of it in the forward pass, so the results on carpet coincide with a slight uptick in airflow at the nozzle. The bad news is you have to empty it often as it has a small dust container with only a 0.53 liter capacity which is almost the same volume as the V8

 Speaking of 100 in seven of the eight service degrees tests I did, and it had better overall averages than the V8. However, it wasn't as good at deep leaning carpet compared to the V8, picking up an average of 94.93 percent in three tests, which is still a decent score for a vacuum at this price point. It was also much better at cleaning large and extra large particles of dirt on carpet than on hard surfaces, picking up most of it in the forward pass, so the results on carpet coincide with a slight uptick in airflow at the nozzle

To conclude this review, the V7 Motorhead is a compelling option inside smaller homes because of its compact size and high end performance on carpet. It won't deep clean as well as its more expensive siblings like the V8, V10 or V11, but it's decent enough for daily vacuuming

 Now we're in a bigger place with a couple of rooms that have new, thick, higher pile carpet, and the stick vac can't hang with the carpet. We're gonna keep the stick vac anyway (it still works great and is handy for lots of things), but we need something for cleaning the carpets and to handle pet hair, since we'd like to adopt cats. Bagless preferred but not strictly required. If it can handle the hardwood too, that'd be cool but it's also not strictly required

 Including Dyson, they are poor durability and short longevity. Everything is proprietary; nobody else can manufacture replacement or aftermarket parts and service is tightly controlled.  My experience, having been drawn in by the performance now three times is that Dyson carefully designs in obsolescence just beyond the warranty period. Each of my Dyson vacuums have lasted only months beyond the warranty

I was excited to get a Dyson vacuum because of their good reputation, especially for dealing with pet fur. I already had a good canister vac, but I wanted cordless vacuum for quick jobs, to not have to drag the canister vac out every time.  I have an RV and the Dyson won’t take up much space. I haven’t yet tried it for the desert sand that accumulates in the window tracks, but I expect good results with the crevice attachment

 4. Buy a separate battery, the battery lasts only one or two uses and you will have a more enjoyable experience if you have a charged battery at the ready.  I honestly got better function out of a shake sweeper, but those types of unites don't seem to be made anymore.

Nice device, but small head

 The actual power of the vacuum is strong it did the job but one thing that was driving me nuts was the end attachments spin when locked into place? So if your dusting with the extended reach in the corners of a wall or steps it will keep pushing the nozzle around if your not being super corrective in what your doing. All around this is a bad buy IMO and I'm going to do a return on it and spend the extra on a Dyson. First time Hoover buyer last time buyer it's that simple.

So for the record I live a lone no children in a 1200 sq ft house that is half carpet half hard wood floors. Budget: Under $400

I want a thin headed vac for my hardwoods/tile and especially under my furniture. I have a short-hair dog and a long-hair wife, the latter is the causes many problems for my cheap upright Hoover Windtunnel. Also one of the belts is constantly slipping off, any advice there?

I was looking at the Hoover ONEPWR Blade+ ($160), because I saw it in Target. Looks like the head and stick might be able to get under my furniture. Any thoughts/alternatives?

Direct air or dirty air machines like the Hoover Onepwr Hepa+ and Kirbys air and dirt go through the motor then into the bag. Since the bag is placed after the motor there is no need for an additional filter Hepa or otherwise but many direct/dirty air machines use their outer bag as an additional layer of filtration. As to why they don’t call all their bags Hepa is probably to simplify marketing.

A lot of vacuums nowadays are using "high efficiency" bags (Miele, Henry, etc.) in combination with a HEPA exhaust filter. Even though these companies advertise that whatever goes into the bag stays in the bag, the additional use of a HEPA filter kind of invalidates that claim. Also, I'd imagine when handling the bag for removal you release some small percentage of dust and allergens. So I'm curious as to why more vacuums don't directly use HEPA bags. I know the Hoover Onepwr HEPA+ and a few other uprights use HEPA bags, but besides those I don't know of many. Is this because of cooling airflow issues or something else? Thanks!

 Just remember their filtration isnt going to be the best just clean the pre-motor filter twice a week and the post motor filter monthly. Just don’t expect them to be the main vacuum cleaner, that i’d say get a $350 Henry or Sebo.

So maybe for the quick messes (furniture, car, accidental spills, etc). A Hoover OnePWR machine or the Tineco A11 or A10 might fit the bill. Just remember their filtration isnt going to be the best just clean the pre-motor filter twice a week and the post motor filter monthly. Just don’t expect them to be the main vacuum cleaner, that i’d say get a $350 Henry or Sebo
