 Usual disclosure at this point, I paid for these boots with my own money and I am not affiliated with Scarpa. If these boots look a little bit worn out, it's because I've been using them for about a year and a half now. So they have seen some wear, seen some really interesting use situations, noticed some positives and some negatives about them, but overall quite a good boot. In terms of features of the boot, taking a look here, one thing you might notice right off the bat is that there are no lower buckles and on the upper part of the boot a lot of straps, not a lot of metal

 These do retail for just under a thousand Canadian dollars, which admittedly is a little bit steep, but if you can afford it, I would recommend it. But yeah, overall rating, these are a pretty good pair of boots and I'm gonna keep using them. In any case, that's it for now. Happy trails!

 LT means light. They are lightweight touring boots made for fast and light type of missions, longer trips, and generally just when you don't want to be carrying around bricks on your feet. Scarpa manufactures ski touring boots for many different audiences, from the more classic Scarpa Mistrali, quite a lot heavier than this, to all the way on the other end for ski mountaineering athletes with their Alien series, which are incredibly light. The F1 LT here is kind of in the middle

 Generally, just the heavier boot you go, the more support there is and the more you can get away with. One other downside is the cost. These do retail for just under a thousand Canadian dollars, which admittedly is a little bit steep, but if you can afford it, I would recommend it. But yeah, overall rating, these are a pretty good pair of boots and I'm gonna keep using them

I felt i loved those fisher traverse boots that we were using, but i felt like the fit was just too generic and once the liners started packing out, like i just lost all kind of hold. I guess on my foot and these feel much much more like a crafted italian uh slipper around my foot. So that's what we're gon na be skiing on

Scarpa F1 LT // The Hot New Lightweight Backcountry Boot

 As a small man, these feel stiff enough for most conditions. The torsional rigidity is great, when edging on firm snow they feel solid. On firm snow with no surprises they ski great, 50° hop turns no problem. Torsional rigidity that inspires confidence as I make my way down the classic Briggs/Stettner route on the Grand Teton

 I have found it easy to open and close the cuff and see no need to mod the cam. I can even close the upper cuff without moving my pant gaiter up for short descents where I don’t care to tighten the power strap and adjust the tongue into place.

The F1 LT comes in at an advertised weight of 990 grams in a 27.0 compared to the 920 grams for an Alien RS, which begs the question: what do you get from these additional 70 paperclips/ grams?
