4. I'd really appreciate it if it's fast. If you knkw of any modifications to make it fast, I'd love that. 

1. It needs to be a foldable bike.  I am switching between the suburbs and Philly and I need something I can take onto public transportation. 

 One of the reasons I need a bike is for it to be affordable. Throwing down 1000 dollars isn't quite something I have now. 

The only thing I would've wanted to be different with the Vitesse is a longer stem, since I'm on the tall side and prefer to sit upright. In general I prefer the urban design and looks over the sport-driven designs. That being said, of course I prefer to focus on the important stuff as I mentioned, like decent build quality and decent value. 

* Buy a Mariner D8 (best contemporary value model so it seems) online for a ridiculous price due to shipping costs

Unfortunately, not many Dahon dealers in my small and stupid country and no second hand sellers for proper Dahon models. Local stores have sh!t models like HIT and SUV which feel nothing like my good old Vitesse. Folding mechanism feels clunky, hinges feel weird and hard to turn, shifter feels cheap, gears sound awful.  This is going to make for easy and smooth shifting between your gears. That's important because you want as little delay as possible when changing gears. Both of our pedals are going to be able to fold up just by pulling in on that inside brings it up. You're going to conserve about four to five inches per pedal when folding it up

 We're going to have brakes on both sides for the front and the rear. It's going to have some great stopping power like I said even in wet conditions. And then on the right side you are going to have the Shimano trigger shifter. It is going to have an optical readout to let you know which gear you're in and then with your index finger and thumb you can change gears

 Everything is all the Horn branded and it writes smooth out of the box, it folds beautifully and not just that, it comes with Tashwabi Citizen tires. So that's really neat. If you have been riding for as much as I have, you would know that tires play a very very big role in both comfort, safety as well as traction. The  Best 20” Folding Bike - Dahon Mariner D8 Review

 It rides very well, seems quite sturdy. Has plenty of gears and shifts excellent. I'm 55 years old, 5'9" and 185 and it fits me well. The included seat was quite uncomfortable, but then I expected that, and replaced it with my comfy one

 We'll see how it holds up so far. Liking it. So far, not that bad. So, hopefully everything continues to go well with that bike and hopefully it exceeds my expectations

Schwinn Loop 7-Speed Folding Bike Review

 From what I can see, Schwinn no longer makes this bike so that probably explains the current low prices. If you have ever wondered about a folder this is your opportunity to test out an inexpensive but heavy folder bicycle.

 What you need to do is get the bike folded as tight as possible and then invert the bike (seat and rack now on floor) and then place the bag over the bike. Bring the bike in the bag back into the upright position and you should be able to close the zippers or rotate the folded bike a bit until you can close the zipper. I did not measure, but the dimensions of the folded bike and the weight would not make this a good bike for flying but this will work well if you need an occasional bike in your car, boat, plane and for commuting. I really like having an integrated bike rack, but the thickness of the rack is too large for panniers

I use a long narrow bike bag on the rack and a seat bag but so far I have not found a handlebar bag that will work. If you load the back too much without weight on the front and try to ride up a hill you will be doing unintentional wheelies

 As to the gear ratio - if you live where it is mostly flat the gears will work fine. I was actually impressed that the gear ratio is on the low end but you will still find yourself walking up steep hills. Only one of the pedals is foldable and when wearing thin souled shoes, I found that the folding pedal has a rumble strip that I could feel. I'm looking but ideally I would like to find foldable pedals for both sides that I could also use with clips without straps

The handlebar and stem are a unique one-piece design, but it's also unique in that it attributes to the foldability of the bicycle. Simply release the quick release and your whole handlebar stem assembly folds down

 Unfortunately, this piece too is made of steel and it's very heavy. I believe there are other bikes out on the market that use an aluminum assembly like this. I'm on the lookout for that. The cranks of the Schwinn Loop are three-piece, but they're very low-end

 And like I said, it feels like it could rip and fall apart at any minute. I'm thinking about getting a piece of luggage, maybe a Pullman, that the bike can fit in. Something with some hard sides. So that's it

 A tall guy like me, I could use something that's 180 millimeters. The Loop has a fairly standard pedal on the left side, but the one on the right side here folds. This makes it fit into the bag easier. Fortunately, folding pedals is not uncommon

 I still need to figure out how to fold it, but I haven’t yet felt the need to (on Day 3). I just wheel it upstairs when I get to work and stash it in the copy room. I suspect the saddle is a men’s saddle, as it’s hard and narrow and I’m pretty saddle-sore, so I’ll replace that eventually. I won’t be taking it out on any long, leisurely trail rides, but I’m very happy with it for commuting
