Contacted Amazon and they cross shipped a replacement right away (5stars for Amazon service [gave me a rma/shipping label]). Glad to say the new unit, after cleaning etc, heats to temperature in 5 minutes, and food is cooking properly (3-5minutes for crispy fries and tempura). For what it is supposed to do, if you get one that works, it does it well, but is it worth the price that the old unit was sold for? Not in my opinion, it's much cheaper construction and quality control. Will it last as long as the old unit? I seriously doubt it

The Bad; It takes up some counter space and is not compact, however, if you want to fry decent amounts of food, a larger bin such as this one is needed. The break away cord is short and PIA. The unit has to be near the outlet, otherwise It'll pull it out if you move the unit more than a couple inches. Minor annoyance

Every time you clean it you need to have the care of a brain surgeon basically because you don't want any water to reach the rest of the appliance. Needless to say, this makes the cleaning way more stressful than it should be, hence making this appliance VERY DIFFICULT to clean as far as I'm concerned since I don't really care about washing something by hand myself. Why did I buy this unit then? Well, I was under the impression that you could take the bowl off, I even searched the Q&A looking for this info and someone says that you could do it. Turns out this listing used to be shared with a different, bigger, deep fryer model from Cuisinart that you could take the bowl apart to clean it and that answer was for that one apparently

We filled it with hot soapy water, rubbed it around bit, the drained it! Easy cleanup! A HUGE plus!

I would give this negative stars, but Amazon doesn't have that option. CONS: I read several reviews on here before purchasing, but I figured I'd give it a shot.
