Civivi Imperium vs Gerber Flatiron

One day, I forgot to do this. The next morning I woke up went to grab this knife for work and found rust. Not rust you can wipe off either, straight up deep rust. I don't know if it's a bad run, isolated incident or what but the customer service didn't make it any better

REVIEW: The blade feels really well balanced in your hand while opened up. The finger relief under the blade really gets the working edge close. It is very controllable and steady. Closed, the blade is bulky

Materials, fit and finish and feel in hand are all better on the civivi for almost half the price. Lock up and action on the civivi is just as good feeling as the benchmade but the BM does have the axis lock if that means a lot to you. The quality of the civivi is shocking for the price.

It is multilayer fiberglass reinforced epoxy resin cured under heat and pressure. These grips get a waffle texture on one side, unlike circuit board material. It arrived the very next day, even with free shipping, which usually takes a week. The blade measures 3

It’s no super steel but is ideal for most of my needs; definitely not a junk steel. Nothing about this knife feels cheap. Blade is centered, bevels are even, edge came very sharp. Very good value for the money

When it finally disengaged I had so much force on it that the blade flipped closed unexpectedly and now I have a nice scar. Upon further inspection the pivot bolt is not very tight, but the blade has way too much resistance to open and close. This could be a really cool EDC knife but for a cheap Gerber, I'll leave it alone and run my Spyderco, Kizer or even my Civivi.

The knife is pretty ergonomic and comfortable but it’s extremely aggravating to spend almost $100 on a blade and it break 3 weeks in.

A bchoil beneath the edge works with a finger groove on the handle to allow users a choke-up point if precision is need. The micarta part of the handle feels very cheap and not lined up well around edges. There is a gap between the micarta and metal where it meets handle like it’s not attached well. When I opened knife, it had someone else’s arm hair and skin cells on the blade like someone had attempted to shave their arm with it. Blade has several inclusions in the finish which I believe will make it fail eventually
