 Am I high on illegal substances? No, just got Chord’s Mojo working. Less Than two years ago, Chord impressed me, my colleagues - and in fact the entire hifi market - with their first portable D/a-converter/headphone amp, named Hugo. Currently Costing close to 1,800 Euros, sound wise, it still is without competition. If You watch this video in a browser, you’ll see a link to the Hugo review in the top right corner

 This is an extremely good D/a-converter that performs excellent in my Set 2, just/\s/below the Hugo, and even in my big Set 1, it sound convincing. I Think that non-trained audio lovers will need some time to decide what’s better, the big QDB or the Mojo. That doesn’t mean the Mojo will please everyone. It is like gourmand food at pub food prices

200… The Mojo outperforms anything I Have heard under a thousand Euros for sure and I challenge any manufacturer to lend me a sub/\s/€ 1,500 converter to beat the Mojo.  No real upgrade in sound from the sabre DAC in my LG V20. IFI is bigger but it pairs up better w my LG when banded together. Mojo is a good portable DAC but even compared to the DF Red, I didnt see much difference w my cans. Go IFI, you won't regret it

  I highly recommend this dac/amp!  EDIT: After a year and two months, the mojo started to lose it's charge, the battery wouldn't stay charged, and then finally it wouldn't turn on at all even when plugged in with usb/wall power. I've played hell trying to figure out the cheapest way to get a new battery to replace it, but unfortunately, the only two places in the United States that repair them are in Connecticut and California, and it's going to cost at least 200 dollars in labor and shipping. Ridiculous. I love the sound of this thing when it worked

 I leave mine plugged most of the time and it stays charged while playing music thru it. Given how small the unit is and that it is not an essential device for most folks, $500 is pretty darn expensive.  The high-resolution offerings from the latter are dramatically better sounding in all respects. The sound stage is wider and deeper. The music is crisp and clean with no discernable distortion whatsoever. The unit does run warm but not hot as some reviewers have stated

 If you want something with a touch more analog feel, then you'd probably go back over to the airish knowing that you're giving up the functionalities of the preamp.  So the theory is there's less conversion of the power required and therefore you're going to get in theory, better quality sound, cleaner measurements, etc. After the power input, we've got the power switch that I just mentioned. Now, if it sounds like I'm knocking the magnets in this review, I'm definitely not. But having watched and read a few other reviews of this amplifier, I thought it was really important to paint the full picture here

 And don't worry, I'm not about to drop jokes throughout this review because they probably would be jokes and not just jokes if you know what I mean. So I'm not going to continue with the puns throughout, but I couldn't resist starting off with something like that. Anyway, we're here talking about the Magnus today, and the Magnus is a balanced amplifier for two hundred dollars. That, in some ways, could be the best budget balanced amp on the market

 So this thing will put 5 watts into 32 ohms, which is way more than you actually need for headphones, but in theory that means it's got the grunt to have good control over your headphone drivers. For headphones all the way up to 600 Ohms, you've still got 500 milliwatts on tap, and that's still plenty in almost all cases. So realistically, this should be a headphone out that can drive just about anything in your collection. As always, before I start talking about how it sounds, let's talk a bit about the design and the layout of the amplifier itself
