Catan vs Nemesis

I actually thought it was boring at first as I didn't have a clear grasp of the mechanics yet. After re-reading the rules and playing games a couple more times I slowly came to realize this game is deep in strategy, and even if you're dealt the same set of cards you can approach the game from different angles.

Then fighting or evading an alien, and finding a room to purchase ammo or heal wounds. These complaints do not ruin the game for me at all, but they are sometimes tiresome aspects of the game feeling more of a chore sometimes. And dice, I hate dice. This game uses them only for combat and noise checks, but shooting aliens is somewhat less fun when having to roll dice to do any damage

Get the extension if you want five or six players. The game involves the strategic gathering of resources and trading with opponents. Instead of traveling across a board to reach the end or a certain destination, Settlers of Catan involves building roads and settlements which eventually lead you to victory.

The ship has been damaged so badly that it's likely to explode at any point due to either the fires onboard or damage to critical systems. On top of that, the players have no idea where the ship is heading or whether it can even get there. Meanwhile, the intruders continue to grow in numbers and become more deadly throughout the game. In competitive or solo mode, the players have to each accomplish their individual goals and survive to win

If you like strategy games, you will like this. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is there are often times where it is not going well for at least one person in the game and this can be VERY frustrating. If your family is overly competitive, you may want to consider a different game.

- If your objective is to kill the queen, your best bet is to ensure the ship’s destruction. You can do this by either initiating the self-destruct sequence in the generator room, or making sure that at least two engines are damaged before the ship takes off for hyperspace flight. The queen is extremely powerful; only fight her as a last resort. - It’s extremely important to remember that the rooms with a “1” on them are crucial to completing objectives

Good, but half of the pieces had some black stuff on them that wouldn't come off. We didn't know what it was and even cleaned them in a bleach solution. Still stained. But other than that everything was perfect!

Intruders. The game takes us a long time to play but, of my several geeky board games, I would say this was the one my group was most anticipating playing next right after our first play. This game is so beautifully monumental that I am looking into other Awakened Realm games as possible future purchases

Ever version of Catan has gotten worse and worse in my opinion. And not just the board pieces. Renaming the soldier to knight after already having a different knight piece with a different mechanism of play in Cities & Knights expansion was such a poor decision.

I think Dinosaur Island, Nemesis and Descent from my collection have a good impact on the table because of their aesthetic and production levels.

We're not exactly dummies in my house but we couldn't figure out after two nights the rules of the game. My brother and his wife enjoy the game so much that we gave it a try. It's in the garage to go off with the next load to Goodwill. Hopefully to a family smarter than us will get it

The rules book is large and fairly easy to follow, but there are a lot of rules and you will be referring back to it often, even once you've played a few times. It also comes with 2 separate sheets that define what the different rooms do, so the players don't need to pass around the rule-book constantly - a nice well-thought out touch. Overall, my group enjoys this game, but less competitive groups might not like the semi-co-op version of the game as much.

I love it! It looks true to the natural theme of Catan and doesn't go too far out. Quality looks fantastic as well!

Yes, there is some chance during combat or even if you might spawn an intruder in your room or not (feels realistic) but for the most part this game has a great depth of strategy. OVERALL: This is our top recommendation for anyone looking to buy a unique survival semi-cooperative game experience AND one that is dripping with theme and well worth the price tag for us. So far we've only played the base game and are still enjoying it immensely.
