 But flex, look at this thing man. This is stiff for a twin. It is I would say medium stiff, bordering on stiff. It doesn't feel super light and playful

 And the base, I just want to talk about this new powder drive base. I was really impressed. I used to get on spring break boards then compare them to other boards and sometimes I felt like the bases just weren't keeping up with some of the really high-end super fast bases out there. Like when I would compare them sometimes to like Jones powder boards and such, I was like whoa that's a faster base

 Now the way this turned in powder I was surprised because I really thought it would be pretty slow but it's very doable very manageable for my size 9 boots. I could turn this pretty quick I would trust this in medium trees not a real tight narrow tree line where you have to really weave in and out but I would trust it and kind of that medium width trees and medium width kind of line through trees I think that would do well. But powder okay in a time of all these directional boards that are sent to me to review I can't tell you how much fun it was to go out on a true twin that could float like this. To go out centered and duck and just be able to try to ride switch and powder it's been a long time since I've done that and to just be able to play around and spin and just have fun and just take a different approach to powder riding from all these surfy directional rides I couldn't believe it and this just floats incredibly well

 It is I would say medium stiff, bordering on stiff. It doesn't feel super light and playful. This feels kind of semi-aggressive but I like it. It's got lots of pop and I was surprised at how easy it buttered for the flex

 I would say this board is recommended to somebody who just really has powerful legs but still likes to go ride in the park. So it's not one of those super noodles that you go get in the park and you just can flex it to the max and it's gone bent completely backwards. This is the for the park rider who likes to go just mash, mash on his edges, mash on anything like put it, put his board to the extreme. It's not like that float around and drift around and do some crazy little bendy tricks

 It's got a lot more bend in this zone than it does throughout the whole camber zone. So it's kind of like a I like to call it that hinge style flex where it's going to flex after the inserts more than in the center of the board and it makes sense with all that camber. This is for the rider who is just serious and about getting in the park and just can't handle a board that feels like it has no tip and tail. With this longer effective edge it gives you the impression that there's more tip and tail there than there really is and it just allows for a super comfortable dominant ride in the park for those aggressive riders

 It's just nice and the way I like it to be. Well one awesome feature about this board is that it has a longer effective edge than any other 153. What they do is they make it like the more like a 150 or more like the effective edge of a 156. So instead of the effective edge being down here it's actually extended a couple more centimeters or inches up towards the tip and tail

 The side cuts so good that if you need to rail a turn you can or you can do short tight quick carves. The torsional flex isn't overly soft which gives it some rigidity so you can actually ankle steer when you need to. Like I said, this thing's a sleeper hit. It's just a good board all around for what it is

 You've got that nice blunted shape with a good sweet spot you can really press into on the nose and the tail. It's got traditional camber so you can load it up, get pop.  Hello snowboarders of the internet, I'm your host Averin LaFever and in this video we're going to be reviewing the Rossignol Retox. This board features good old fashioned traditional camber so from contact point to contact point you have the arc of traditional camber that's going to give you all the load, pop, snap and drive of this snowboard. This board is available in 147, 150, 153 and 156. I rode this board at a Arapaho Basin on a sunny bluebird day with low to moderate winds you had creamy snow in mid-mountain, choppy chunder firm snow at the top of the mountain and a little bit of slush at the bottom, basically hero snow if you knew where you were going on the mountain and I rode it with my Rome Black Label bindings and my K2 Thraxis boots

 When you press into them they lock in and they hold, sure you got camber and there's a little bit of fight but it's not enough that it's just going to overwhelm you and force you to set the board down, it's just going to give you enough to pop out of whatever you're doing. So get weird, get wild, if you know how to butter you're not going to have a problem. If you don't well it's time to learn, especially on camber because too many of you have been half-assing it on full reverse. Now when it comes to jibbing this is truthfully where this board shines, it locks in on those sweet spots in the nose and the tail and you can hold that press and get a little snap out of the end of the feature

The 2023 Rossignol Retox Snowboard Review

 What's gonna happen when you lock it in? It's gonna press, but it's gonna want to pop out. It's gonna want to swivel around on you, so it's gonna have some fight to it. Just be prepared to manhandle it. Now, if you've never buttered on camber, you're probably gonna eat shit and die

 This board, due to the flex and what it is, small to medium-ish or small large jumps, really where you want to kind of keep it with it, but this board is solid in the air. Here's the thing about this board. It's traditional camber, which means it's gonna fight you when you butter. You want to get your weight way out on the nose or the tail, lock it in and understand that that arc is going to fight you

 That's just how it's gonna be. When it comes to jibbing, whether you're going slow or fast, this board gets it done. It locks in optimally on the nose and the tail for presses. That blunted out shape is ideal

 This board is really optimal for like those setup turns where you're going into a feature, where you're transitioning from toe to heel to control your speed. You know those mellow cars where you're just like, oh, there's a feature over there and you just sort of swoop over and get to it, hit it, then swoop back over into the line you want. You know, it's not an everyday I'm gonna go carve with it, but it can handle that, which is nice. It does transition smoothly from edge to edge and it is traditional camber, which means you got that load and that lock, which is gonna give you that drive and snap out of a turn

The 2021 Rossignol Retox Snowboard Review

 You can dig those edges in and really balance yourself on it. With that blunt shape and slightly softer tips, you've got a great platform for locking into butters. You can just press into it hard and expect a lot of response out of it and that carries over to how this thing is going to jib. This is a board that if you know how to jib and you know how to ride camber, you're going to have a good time

 You have to load it up to get the snap out of it and that snap is very solid and very responsive. This is a board that takes moderate effort to load up and gets maximum rebound out of. This is a board for all in over anything in your path or spraying fat little skier kids because you should always spray skier kids that ride skis. On jumps, this board's fully at home whether they're small, medium, large

 The best way to sum up the Rossignol Retox is that it's playful yet precise. This is the only full camber board from them and it's an awesome park board. It's that middle of the road park flex that you know where it's going to be softer in the tips and it's going to be stable, stiffer and smooth through the middle but with a decent amount of torsional flex. This is a board that when you're riding through rutted out landings and shit in the park in the spring or the end of the day, it's not going to buckle

 You can lock into nose and tail presses and feel secure but still pop off the end of the feature. When you get sideways on a rail, that camber hugs it perfectly. The flex is playful yet powerful enough that you can lock in and snap out of anything. This is a board for someone that knows what the fuck they're doing in the jib park
