 While not quite as sunny as a week ago, it was still pretty bright. The increased rightness of the screen (as noted above) made a great deal of difference. Yes - it still my clothing/face/whatever back to me, but the screen was bright enough to see what I was videoing. Game changer! I doubt I could get a better deal on a quality camcorder so I'm raising my rating from 3-stars to 4-stars

 - It seemed to have more than enough zoom power, and it zooms in and out pretty quickly. I believe you can modify the zoom speed.  Cons; - The Canon software doesn’t really work with a Mac using High Sierra. I spent nearly an hour with their tech support, and we got it “kinda" working, but not that well

 It does remind you to open the lens cover. With the record button and the zoom lever both near the rear of the camera, starting / stopping the recording and/or zooming the lens was pretty convenient. I left most of the camcorder settings in the default mode. Here are some of the pros and cons I observed for the first time out;  Pros; - The video quality was pretty good, although the background seems a bit light while the players seem too dark

 - It was a sunny day so I couldn’t see squat with the Touch Panel LCD. It was both washed out and reflected my clothing/face/whatever back to me. After getting home I read the manual and found how to increase the brightness of the screen - hopefully that will help.  For now I’m giving this product 3-stars - "It's OK"

It costs about $300 US dollars which is about $1800 less than the Panasonic GH5 that I'm filming on right now. So the question is, is it worth hunting one down in 2020? Well, stay tuned to find out

 So here are some key facts about this little camera. Firstly, it has a 57x zoom, that's ridiculous. According to their website, Canon say that it means it can range between a 32.5mm all the way to a 1853mm lens

  I will go for a different brand and make sure it doesn't do this.  UPDATE: Most consumer cameras do this, due to the fact that in the old days of windows 95, when fat32 was implemented, the maximum file size was 4 gb. To maintain compatibility with most sd cards, they keep it at 4 gb, even using more modern file systems, like exFat, which do not have the file size limitation, but the cameras still split the videos. In order to get a camera that does NOT do this, one will have to look a lot

First with the good  Pros: Let me say the canon vixia hf r800 takes good quality 1080p videos 60fps. Nothing extraordinary, so it is a good camera.  Camera build quality is good. It does not feel cheap

  Now the cons:  Low light video quality is not that great. It's just ok  Picture quality requires excellent light to be great. Otherwise I find them noisy (I am no photographer and I noticed).  Now the big complain

It's you're talking right into the microphones I've come to some really important conclusions about it for people looking Let's say to start a YouTube channel or where I think it's best suited and where I think it absolutely is not suited so let's start with This exact type of situation here Creating YouTube videos indoors. I think that this is absolutely not Absolutely not the device for this type of a video right here And the reason I say that is because I've tried a bunch of different lighting setups I've tried a bunch of different angles I cannot get any separation from the background and it always appears to be a little bit grainy I can't seem to get it to be really sharp and For this type of video me personally, I would not recommend it I would try something else definitely doesn't mean that I don't think it has some legitimate good situational usages Where you could really benefit from the features of this camera? So one of the really nice things about this is just the How it's so small and it's very versatile with that long zoom It makes it really good for trails and just recreational hiking and stuff like that And when you're done, just fold it up put it in your pocket and go on So let me show you some of the ones that I some of the situations that I love using it first and foremost outdoor in good lighting If you don't want to be carrying a bunch of stuff. This thing is so small so portable It's really good to get a lot of range And you get some pretty good footage all the way zoomed out All the way zoomed out, you know, you don't want to go into that super high 1150 Whatever nonsense digital zoom But the optical zoom capabilities of this are pretty good And you're going to get obviously footage that you could never get with your cell phone and being this small You're going to be able to see things and get footage That like I said that you would never get with your cell phone

 Yay over on this side You've got the camera wrapped in some bubble wrap and you get a battery now One of the nice things I do have to say is the battery on here is pretty freaking big I haven't actually unbagged this one itself This is the stock one there will be links down in the description for both this and the accessories that I'm going to end Up showing but I ended up getting a second battery Which is from a it's a non-canon brand, but it works just fine It's actually encoded so that the camera will read it and everything and it registers about three hours of charge Which is a freaking fantastic one of the downsides that I ended up finding though was coming stock in the box like this you have to charge the battery through the camera and Evidently it takes forever from the research that I ended up doing so I did end up picking up a secondary battery like I said and a charger it came as a combo and It still does take about an hour hour and a half to fully charge one of these guys But to be able to do that and have a three hours of recording time is a pretty freaking awesome now taking the camera out Of the baggie. I was kind of surprised. I'm used to when I purchase things Them having stickers all over the freaking place and this didn't it wasn't advertised as a refurbished But yeah, so it does have a flip out screen and it is Rotatable so if you're looking at this way points down so you can get some overhead shots back fully around and Then forward for vlogging one of the things you will have to pay attention to is when you turn it on it will tell you if this is closed, but it won't warn you if You shut things down and you know and it's open so you just have to remember to flip it closed It's just a little lever right here open close open close over on this side over here You have the charging port now one of the nice things that I did like about this is The fact that you can have it plugged in and running off of AC power While recording you have your plug-in down here for being able to attach it to your standard tripod You have a lever here for releasing the battery and of course your battery goes here. All right, and that's what the wide-angle on so it see it kicks back And gives you a little more field of view Looking at it, I can see Uh, you're getting a little aberration and a little flare over here on the sides Um, but as far as your center focus, it seems to be pretty good Um, I'm going to have to test this on the table and uh, so I'll do a video a little bit later on There will be links down in the description both for the camera Uh, I got in a dish

 Does this beat out? So does that beat out this guy for vlogging and just general take around? Uh, I don't think so. I actually prefer this it's uh smaller. It's more compact Uh, it is about the same size. This is a little bit heavier than the camcorder though But again, like I said, uh, I didn't grab the camcorder for taking for outdoor vlogging and things like that

 Like I said, there will be a Be links down in the description for all the items that are shown here and uh we're going to Try this out hook it up over here under the ring light on the mountain everything and I don't know do a video on something and post that up and then I will ask you guys for your Your thoughts on that quality As usual youtube, I want to thank you for hanging out with me um I did a poll on this to see how many people actually wanted to see this and how many didn't And I think it's like 70 didn't and 30 did but there were a couple people that had questions. Um for a camera for live streaming and uh, so that's why I ended up making this hopefully it'll help somebody Um a couple just real quicks that I ended up missing. I think was uh, the battery life on these Is pretty crazy right now.  I don't like the picture on it I don't like how it records and that's what I used for several years and it was okay But you know, I've upgraded I decided to try and pick up one of these guys Because they don't have a record limit like it can just stay on for freaking ever as long as it has power It will stay on and that will be perfect for trying to do some long live streams So on the side over here, you've got the Vixia HF R800 You've got a picture of it on this side You have some specs some more specs and even more spec getting into the box You're great by an instruction manual and registration card fold open the top and you have a bunch of goodies here You have a just standard USB cable I'm not sure why they didn't end up going with a micro USB instead of a standard But they did they do include this looks to be a probably about a 4-foot HDMI cable I don't know the quality on it. But hey free is free It's better than you having to turn around and buy one you get your power brick with of course Sony's proprietary Plug-in port. UPDATE: If you're planning on using a neutral density filter with this camera, make sure you manually set your exposure first, or the camera will compensate for the reduced amount of light hitting the lens, adding noise and nullifying the effects of the filter.  For much of my video recordings, I have used either DSLR's or bridge cameras. While they each have their strengths, I needed something lightweight, compact and portable, but capable with good image quality, accurate autofocus, and capable of 24p recording. The Vixia Hf R800 fit the bill for what I needed, so I gave it a shot

  As far as manual controls go, you get very few of them. You can manually set white balance and specify frame rate, but no dice for shutter speed or iris. It does feature manual focus, but it's actuated by the touch screen instead of a physical control. This camera also does still photos, but the resolution and quality leave a lot to be desired

 For instance, I shot some video at night in my town, which featured traffic and business lights. The image quality was fairly good, but there was definitely some grain to the image not present in better lighting conditions.  As far as manual controls go, you get very few of them. Poly Studio P5 Overview - Video and Audio Tests

 Pricing seems about right and has not inflated due to COVID shortages that some brands have expereicned.

Now working from home 3 days a week and set up a permanent office space, it became glaringly obvious that the built-in webcam in my work laptop was not going to cut it. I suffered from a huge amount of glare and a washed-out image due to a window in my home office. Using the Studio P5 has eliminated these two issues and could be dialed in quickly using Poly's software. The wider angle of the lens has provided a more natural viewpoint when on Video calls which is important if you don't like the blur features in products like MS Teams

 Image quality is sharp with little noise even in low light conditions. One area which could do with improvement is the autofocus; on occasion, the camera can refocus every few minutes for a split second despite looking in focus. I hope this can be amended in a future firmware update. The mounting bracket feels solid and easily adjusted

 So thank you really appreciate the support now for 129. Is it worth this price point i'd say so? A lot of comparable models are in that price. So it's a high quality product. It looks good

 So we're gon na see how the performance of this webcam it's a 1080p hd plug and play, and you can use it with the poly lens software. So you can adjust some of the settings on this camera, but let's get to the fun stuff, let's plug it into the computer, so you can see exactly how this webcam looks all right. So this is what the logitech c920 looks like. This is just plug and play

 Now, if you're, using a built-in webcam on your laptop or you don't, have a webcam and you're doing video conferences, it's not in a the best experience that you could have. It'S always a little bit awkward when you have your video turned on, and then somebody on the other side of a video conference doesn't have their video on it kind of feels like you're talking to nobody, or you know it just feels a little bit disconnected as If you were talking to somebody face to face, but they had their back turned to you almost it's it's this weird experience, so you want to make sure that you have a webcam if you're doing any video meetings of any kind and then, of course, the microphone Built in here helps your voice be heard if you have no microphone at all, but of course we always recommend going with a headset for the best overall experience and we can help you find the right headsets cameras and speakerphones.
